more about this group

it is formed so as to further a very good and useful purpose: making the world a better place, a more loving place, a place God himself would approve of

the rules are all formulated to advance and uphold this purpose

members are expected to adhere to all the rules and goals of the group or they will not be considered members of the group any longer, which of course means they will lose all benefits accruing to said membership

I don't join groups. Always somebody who wants to be boss. Always stupid rules.

You don’t say what that person did. I assume he/she violated the rules somehow. If that’s the case and it’s a religious group maybe they should consider forgiveness. But if it’s a violation of trust or taking advantage of someone then perhaps probation or removal would be warranted.

Yes, that is the only reason that has kept me from joining my states unorganized Militia

What is the group and what is the group's primary purpose? The poll is too vague.

Cheers.

Depends on the group.

Generally speaking, if someone does something counter to a group's goals or rules, they should expect to be ejected from the group.

Of course, there are groups within groups, so if a group has goals which the group it's within disagrees with, it might encounter issues.

For example, take the quite large group "Americans" (we'll say for the sake of argument that this refers to people from the USA exclusively). When a person or group is caught doing something against the rules, they are punished for it.

Few if any of the punishments are strictly defined, and some of them aren't even questions of legality. We have the mostly legal organization(s) that make of the KKK, and that group is punished by being generally shunned/looked askance at by the rest of the group (and subgroups).

Your question is far too vague to give any sort of useful answer to. What is the group? How does one gain membership in it? What rule did the person break? What was the intent behind the rule-breaking? Was it intentional or done in ignorance? What has their past conduct in the group been like?

IMO he's talking about Romney.. Forum rules don't allow him to add 'other' disciplines to the poll.
