He has eighty nine percent support from the former Republican party, so there's a clue. They're cultists now.
You have to wonder what the inevitable conclusion is going to be. Cults don't generally just fade away peacefully.
Considering the political cravenness of most GOP members of Congress and the unwavering support of Republicans in polls, it seems like a fair question. We've all seen supposed leaders of the party like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have their families, wives, and manhood questioned by Trump, only to line up to carry water for him. Even more moderate Republicans such as Will Hurd, a man who is leaving office next year, is apparently so terrified of angering Trump that he is defending him against blatantly corrupt behavior. We see rubes line up at rallies across the nation with their silly red hats to chant the usual inane slogans. And literally nothing the man does seems to matter to any of them.
Former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt posed the following questions on Twitter.
Steve Schmidt on Twitter: "I can’t stop wondering how many GOP members of Congress would raise their hand willingly to take an oath of absolute obedience and loyalty to Donald Trump. How many at a Trump rally? How many millions across the country? Illiberal cults of personality usually end badly."
Some might find it silly, but it's hard to think of what we are witnessing as anything other than a cult. Trump insults disabled people. They cheer. He mocks the heroism of a crippled veteran. They cheer. He cheats on his wife with multiple porn stars and models. They not only cheer, but call him some sort of Christian messiah. He brags about forcing himself on women. Between cheers they simply refer to it as "locker room talk" all men engage in. He calls for locking up his political rivals and murdering whistle blowers. They cheer. He praises dictators who butcher their own people while condemning liberal allies. They cheer. He attempts to force a desperate foreign ally into making up an investigation into a political rival and announcing it in a CNN interview. They cheer. He lies to them 13.5 times a day. They cheer.
We are told that law enforcement can do nothing about him.
Special counsels can't even accuse him of wrongdoing, let alone seek indictments.
Any Congressional oversight is blocked and called a coup attempt.
So, what is the inevitable conclusion when tens of millions of people and essentially all of the leaders of a party become so wholly invested in one utterly horrible human being?

the only oath I would swear to any politician would be not so nice and involve my middle finger...
but I am going to require better evidence than "i PRESUMED I KNEW but i really didn't hear ****" to impeach a sitting president.

That the world dodged one helluva bullet when Hillary lost.
The fact is, you have more hatred for a woman, Hillary Clinton, than respect for our democracy and it's primarily because you've bought every lie that Russia -- yes, Russia, put into your head. The other fact is that Trump has helped them to destroy our country. That's right, I'm raising the white flag and giving up the fight to preserve what our men and women fought and died for in all our wars wars. I'm relinquishing my country to a party that cares nothing about those people that died in wars, or for those people that are fighting the bloodless war to hold onto our democracy. This is not going to end well for any of us and if you think the worse is behind, then you're going to be surprised at what comes next. Once we've given up everything that has held our country intact for over 250 years, we're no longer a free country.
Oh you won't feel it immediately, but you and everyone else in this country will one day wake up and ask yourself 'what the hell have we done?' It's too late then, the clock can't be turned back. This genie can't be stuffed back in the bottle once it's been released. We will never get back all the things we've taken for granted for. Oh no, if you're imagining we'll all be enslaved and put in chains, that's not what I mean. But if you think we're going to have democratic elections anymore, we won't. If you think the law is going to be on your side, it won't. If you think your protests against high gas prices, lack of health care, a paycheck that can keep up with the cost of goods, imprisonment for political reasons, banned from protesting, prohibited to speak freely without fear of retribution, minority rights, voting rights, inclusiveness, equality in the workplace and the right to live as you choose to live rather than how someone tells you that you have to live...... you're going to have a very harsh and sobering awakening. Those days are not far into the future of this country. Oh look -- they're here right now.
Change for the better for any country is more than a struggle. It takes suffering, it takes hardships, it takes years and it comes at a high human cost, it always does. Change for the worst happens relatively abruptly in a short period of time, and when that happens, getting back what's been lost may never return again. That's where we're going. The signs that it's happening are clear. A Congress that's enabling the agenda of a fascist, a White House advisor that's a proven white supremacist, our Constitution in crisis and laws that are 243 years old broken without consequence or conscience. This is the moment we will all look back on in a year, five years or forever and remember that we made the choice to allow this to happen to us.
We're basically at the point now where Trump, by his own admission, can do whatever he wants as long as he can manage to find 35 Senators unwilling to do anything about it. So essentially, slim conservative majorities in the least populace 18 states in the nation, states with a total population barely larger than California, could block any attempt from the rest of us to remove even the worst of criminals from the White House.
And if they are okay with him using Congressionally approved aid to extort a foreign ally into helping his reelection, what comes next? How about when political opponents actually start getting locked up instead of him simply encouraging chants about it? When journalists start getting thrown in prison for questioning the administration? Where exactly is the line for these people?
I think it's pretty clear now. Trump's incompetence lead to this latest mess and only rational thing to do is impeach Trump AND remove him from office. When people are aware of how much Trump is lying, there's not any reason left to take him seriously - those who still take Trump seriously are - most likely - cultists.

How it is cultists? You think that's the truth what Trump is holding there?

Trump deniers will say "They should be in prison for lying about our president, good for them." The fact is there just is no bottom line, no be-all to end-all for supporting him. Because once they begin to accept that he's been nothing more than a total atomic bomb to our democracy, they would be forced to accept the fact that they are personally responsible for our destruction, not him. We should never expect that the day will come when a light bulb goes off in their brains and they realize 'holy **** - what happened?'
My father in law worked hard all his life, but he was self employed so he didn't have HI and he didn't save much for his future. He had some serious health problems starting in his mid-50's(he's now in his mid 70's). If it wasn't for SS, and medicare, and help from the state and Fed for his medical costs he'd either be dead or living outside in a refrigerator box.
And even though the Republicans have threatened to take away these safety nets that have kept him alive, his hatred of Dems is so fierce, so white hot, he would NEVER vote for and Dem.
He is the current Republican voter.
