What makes a Marine a bette/worse man than a Blackwater employee?

Yeah, there's this other thread in this forum that asks the same question about marines and insurgents. I don't like that thread, because I don't think that it fosters real debate with this crowd (seriously, pretty much everyone's an American).

In my fictional scenario, both are exactly the same except for their employer and the conclusions that can be derived from that fact.

as for marine and insurgents ... anyone who compares our military to insurgents is a fool.

marines don't
Don't use civs as shields
Don't Recuit children.
Don't Use fear to intimadate locals
Don't want to be in Iraq, they are doing a job.
Don't want Iraq to be in cival war.
Dont chop of peoples heads.
Don't want to die.

There are criminals inside the military, just like in civilian life. There will be bad apples, but you can't think the military is full of thugs do you?
