Among the blizzard of (poorly-drafted, AI generated, and un-proofread - but that's another thread) EOs from Trump's first day of kindergarten in office, was an Executive Order seeking to withdraw the US from the World Health Organization (the WHO). In addition to being ill-considered and counterproductive, ii is also probably illegal: the US joined the WHO in 1948 by an act of Congress, and thus would require congressional approval for withdrawal. Moreover, the process for withdrawing is a year l long and cannot be done unilaterally. But when have legalities or logic ever entered into Trump's consideration?

“For Americans it may not be obvious immediately what the impact will be, but given the world we live in and all of the factors that are driving more disease outbreaks, America cannot fight them alone,” says Dr. Ashish Jha, dean of the school of public health at Brown University and former White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator. “We need an effective WHO to not just keep the world safe from these diseases, but to keep Americans safe from these diseases.”

"The bottom line is that withdrawing from the WHO makes Americans and the world less safe," says Dr. Tom Frieden, president and CEO of the nonprofit health organization Resolve to Save Lives and former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)."

WHO has proven to be an absolutely incompetent organization and has practically withdrawn itself during the pandemic.
WHO has not been able to organize pharmacists into a single mechanism to find a safe and effective vaccine as quickly as possible. Moreover, it was not just WHO that failed to organize a united front against the pandemic, but the organization began to play business and politics by certifying Western vaccines and delaying certification with Russian and Chinese vaccines.
In other words, the organization, at the peak of the biggest crisis in its history, turned out to be incompetent, and even worse, corrupt.
There's only one question... Why has the US government waited so long to withdraw from WHO, and why only the US?

Nothing.
WHO is an incompetent organization, there is no sense in its content. Personally, I support such an act by the US administration and I want the Russian government to do the same.

All standard classifications of disease used by physicians around the world to diagnose and treat cancer and other medical illnesses are created by WHO and updated as the science progresses.

It's another horrible mistake which stems from the horrible mistake made by Republican voters.
 
I think China is more than capable of taking over the previous US role in the WHO.

I want to disappoint you, but all these standards and research are being done by doctors and scientists who have worked, are working and will work without WHO, I will tell you even more, the vast majority, very few of them are ready to share best practices and techniques, even within their national states, not to mention which- international cooperation.
WHO is nothing more than a bureaucracy, as well as a tool in the hands of the pharmaceutical industry. No more, no less, and the world will be able to completely do without fuss institutes, nor doctors, will not go anywhere, they are not supported by WHO, but by national governments.
