There are two other polls that relate to this, but they give ridiculous figures.
Welcome to economic reality. What is your annual income (your individual income, not your family income), before taxes, but after your business expenses are deducted?
Vote in this poll. Then you may post your sources of income--employment, self-employment, retirement, capital gains, social security, alimony, rent, royalties, etc.
The way the poll is set up, most will fall over 50k and what will that mean?
Doesn't Obama want to tax the rich? Better them than me.
i live in fl.....where do you live?
ps....i don't consider over 50k much.
I'm a dirt poor unemployed university student getting by on scholarships and a janitorial job at a church (all I do is vacuum it twice a week). Thanks Obama for screwing students and the job marketIf anything the government should put some regulation on rising tuition prices...
 you can't live in my county for less than almost double your top choice.
Yes, there are some places where living costs are outrageous. I'll bet the place where you live has lots of big government that taxes and regulates the hell out of everybody--maybe NY, NJ, MA, RI, or CA.
You needed an "over $500,000" option.
Did you really need to make four separate "under $20K" categories and everyone who makes over $50K gets lumped together?
I have been trying for about a year, where I am at no one is wanting to hire a part time worker with a full time students schedule. Most places have been cutting back on hours and employees. I support working, but finding a job in this economy and with a student schedule is hard/impossibleI am thankful for the little income I have through my cleaning job.
1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 Zimbabwe dollars.
1.7 Trillion.
I actually make no money, as I am a poor college student. My wife brings in the money right now. So I voted her income level. Once I get a job in my field, we should double that.
I don't get the point of this poll...... 50K is supposed is supposed to make you rich? ..... I know people who make 80K and struggle to get by. But then again New York and LA are really expensive cities. I think wealth shouldn't be measured in how much you make but how much you have left at the end of the month. I could make 10K a month and have left $400 a month to save up. That doesn't make me rich.
Those who cannot "make it" with an income of $50K annually, need to learn how to budget money....
This is what I should be doing, retired on less than $30K annually....
You must live in a rich state. Only a small percentage makes over $50,000 in my state or area.
I agree, and the Obama definition of "rich" is something like $250,000 a year after expenses.
Believe it or not, I know people who make $20K and do very well.
I could retire very well on $30K.
I lived on less than that for over 10 years.20k is below the typical entry-level starting salary around here. Nobody can live here on that for long.
Which is rich. $100,000 is for that matter. Even then taxes are the same rate as during the Bush years so its a moot point on the right to complain.
I lived on less than that for over 10 years.
Not true. I made approx 100k/year while living in San Diego, and I most certainly was not 'rich'. My fricken apartment cost 1/3 of that and almost 1/3 of it went to taxes.
Most of those are students. The next largest number, 9, checked the lowest figure--Under $5K.
Actually, far more voted in the middle than in the lowest end of the spectrum.Only a handful voted for anything in the middle--no more than 2 votes in any one category.
wow...you can rent a high rise condo in chicago for much less than that.I lived on less than that for over 10 years.

well, these categories are very broad.I am amazed at how much personal info. people will put out online and have always thought asking someone how much they make as rude.
It's like assking someone if yer butt looks big.---No win situation. :mrgreen:well, these categories are very broad.
Leaving you with around $33,000 for other expenses? thats not poor by any means. I wish I could pay my mortage and taxes and still have $33,000 to piss away.
Most of those are students.

well, it's not quite 33k. ;-)San Diego area is one of the most expensive places to live in the country. My 1 bedroom cost me 2k/month in rent alone. Add utilities to that and you get a much higher figure.
well, it's not quite 33k. ;-)
but yes, expensive.
i know...you pay for the climate and area, as do i.When I said my apt cost me a third, I meant the apt and necessary utilities. Water, for instance, was pretty expensive in that area.
And yes, I was giving an approximation anyway.
if you want lower tuition prices then it means paying more taxes, and americans complain about taxes 24-7, even though they only pay a maximum of 35%. you cant have it both ways. There wasn't any bail out for students nor any new programs for rising tuition prices. He talks about how important an education is, but doesn't offer anything to help make higher education more affordable or regulate university tuition costs. I do get a pell grant from the government and money from my state that I am very grateful for, but I don't see anything new being implemented. I just think it's criminal that universities can charge so much for an education and making it more exclusively for children with rich parents. I just wish that congress would do an overhaul on higher education, our country needs that.
