What is the plan behind tariffs

The reciprocal tariffs against US goods are beginning to be announced.

China (582 B) matched Trump's tariffs and added restraints on exporting rare earth metals to the US. Canada (762 B) announced tariffs on American automobiles, holding off for now on US auto parts.

Mexico (840 B) and the EU (976 B) are still formulating their reciprocal tariff responses.

Biden handed Trump a relatively healthy economy with good/improving numbers. This didn't have to be. It was a choice. A very bad choice.
