What is different between REAL CHRISTIANITY & a CULT that thinks it's "Christian"?

The young lady in the following video knows what it's about. And so, before defining CHRISTIANITY, I suggest you sincerely watch this video, and I believe that you will understand why I believe as I do: The main thrust of this video concerns the Mormonism/LDS/CHURCH of CHRIST of the LATTER DAY SAINTS; however, the Witnesses are mentioned, as well as, a few others. They ultimately fall into the same deception ----- "WE GO TO THE "CORRECT" CHURCH. All the others are evil, wrong, apostate, and going to this specific "church" puts one on the "CORRECT" road to GOD."
 
Hard to get everyone to agree on what "real Christianity" is, but if you go solely by the words of Christ I'd argue anyone who supports a man who is an adulterer and a cheat, whose greed and vanity far outpace his compassion and mercy, and who routinely shits on the poor, the disenfranchised, and the immigrant is not following "real Christianity."
 
A "real" Christian is one who understands God's underlying Message throughout the Bible, His Word of peace, forgiveness, brotherly love, and compassion.

Anything that does not break that Word is not a sin. Despite any stories fallible men of the times may have written. The Message of the NT remains.

Anyone that does not recognize that Word is denying God's Will...only He is to judge.
 
Then I'd suggest the study the Bible. As forgiveness is as meaningful a part of true Christianity as any. It appears that hate, which has no place in Christianity is running rampant among those who don't like Trump.
 
I still find the question of WHY unanswered.

I like your comment. Let me add that the cycle we see in the history of God's chosen people - of which we Christians are now a part - we go from blessings from God, to turning away from God, to rejecting God, to punishment from God, to crying out to God for forgiveness and redemption, and blessing again if we retun to God. America and Europe are in the stage of turning away from God.

Quoting from Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address:

"Woe to the world because of offenses for it must needs be that offenses come but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh." If we shall suppose that American slavery is one of those offenses which in the providence of God must needs come but which having continued through His appointed time He now wills to remove and that He gives to both North and South this terrible war as the woe due to those by whom the offense came shall we discern therein any departure from those divine attributes which the believers in a living God always ascribe to Him. Fondly do we hope ~ fervently do we pray ~ that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsman's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword as was said three thousand years ago so still it must be said 'the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.'


We are not at war with ourselves right now over a sin such as slavery, but we are rejecting God and God with not suffer the sins of man forever.
 
Easy---the "cult" thinks it knows what "real Christianity" is...................................enough said....
 
Religions are just cults which have managed to become mainstream and accepted in a society.
 
1st and foremost real Christians...

“‘You must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’  This is the greatest and first commandment." Matthew 22:37,38

Real Christians believe in and follow their Savior and exemplar, Jesus Christ...

"Then Jesus went on to say to the Jews who had believed him: “If you remain in my word, you are really my disciples," John 8:31

Real Christians base their beliefs on the Bible, just as Jesus did...

"And starting with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them things pertaining to himself in all the Scriptures." Luke 24:27

Real Christians do more than talk about love....they show by their words and actions that they love one another as Christ loves us...

"This is my commandment, that you love one another just as I have loved you." John 15:12

Real Christians do just as Jesus did...they preach Bible truth wherever people are because they love their neighbors and they gladly use their time and energy to share the Bible’s message of hope and comfort...

"And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus." Acts 5:42

Real Christians continue to search for and hunger for Bible truths...

“Happy are those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, since they will be filled." Matthew 5:6

True Christians practice what they preach...

"Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will." Matthew 7:21...
 
Real Christianity is simply those who has the foundation of Christian eschatology and manifestation of its ideas.

For example, any Christian sect which believes in cyclical models of time like the gnostics or certain Jehovah Witnesses are not Christian. The revolution of Christianity is that time now flowed linearly. It had a beginning(Genesis) and ending with the Final Judgement and return to Christ. This is a break from virtually most, if not all, major religions at the time which preached that time was stuck in a forever loop. The linearization of time leads to more scientific modes of time which was perfected in the Gregorian Calendar and eventually the mechanical clock. Things that are entirely linear and represent progress. The combined representation of 1)Linear Time and 2)Idea that there was progress leads to the Industrial Revolution which was the ultimate triumph of the clock over natural, rhythmic, and circular time.

Unfortunately we are losing modern people to eastern faith and ideas, a faith that would quite literally lead us back to being back-breaking laboring peasants til the end of time.

Don't get caught up in comparison and one up-man ship, everyone has a unique relation with God and it's not defined by so-called Christian norms nor popular opinion.
 
Christianity is a middle eastern religion.

Modern science arose as a backlash to, and in spite of, Christianity- not because of it.

The Greeks and Romans were well on their way to modern science and technology before Christianity came along and plunged everything into the dark ages for 1000 years. Modern science arose because people finally threw off the yoke of Christianity and started looking back again to classical pagan Greco-Roman art, philosophy, mathematics, systems of government, and science.

True in a narrow sense, although the later scholastic and philosophical tradition of the major churches were distinctly Western in character.

Also absurd. Not only do very few modern historians agree with the characterization of the 'dark ages', but you act as-if the rest of the world were leagues ahead in technology, science, and innovation while Europe was in the dark. Of course, this narrow minded characterization sort of misses that Constantinople was the envy of the middle ages and - along with Baghdad and more infrequently the Sang/Tong dynasties - lead the era in scientific research and innovation.
 
I don't think there can really be such a thing as a real Christian. Religions are made up. They are literal make believe. What would make one person's make believe more real than anyone elses?

True "Christianity" is a personal relationship with GOD through CHRIST and the working of the HOLY SPIRIT, that changes one's A religion requires membership/attachment to a human group with promise regardless of personal attachment to some deity

Not in the least. Christ doesn't care what Church one attends (as long as HE is its foundation). Christ does care that one believes HE loves us very much and willingly died to save the lost. And that HE arose from the grave to provide eternal life to whosoever will receive HIM. Churches that say they are the way are NOT. Churches that reject GOD's Word are preaching a different gospel that CHRIST warned against.

If you don't think, you never will learn. A personal relationship is understood to be real between those involved.

Very low tier response.

God's existence remains a rigorously debated and contested subject in Oxford's philosophy department. You can scrutinize the theology and merits of a particular religion with good arguments, but disinterested handwaving just makes you an intellectual luddite.

I feel there has to be something to it, because I find it ludicrous to believe that the universe stops ****ing with you just because you died.
