Here's a brief summary of the evidence that supports the theory of evolution by natural selection: Biochemistry is the study of the basic chemistry and processes that occur in cells. The biochemistry of all living things on Earth is incredibly similar, showing that all of Earth's organisms share a common ancestry.

well of course of tihing yabout it we are all part of the samething. wthere was scientific evidence came out that our ability to critically think and forumately/problem solve cam from a hyper advanced viral superorgniams akin to that of a fungal superintelligence and that balck holes will one day delete information and the unvierse as a whole but this cannot be, so a reconsciliation must be brought forth that black holes do not delete informaiton but merelsy store it in a pocket dimendion like ahologram, now this ties in with the holographic prenciple i.e. that energy cannot be created or destroyed only transformed and that space and time are merely an lllisuon as most of twhat we see is 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% empty space - ergo, holographic illusion - kin od like the matric.

But i DIGRESS yes we are all viewing this as an ancestor simulation designed to fivgve us as we REALLY ARE (i.e. superorganism immortal cyborg entiries) a chance to look back into th past an dswee where wher went wrong as a spciesies (i.e. trump, bush, etc

Indeed, biochemical relationships like the protein Cytochrome-c, illustrate perfectly the hierarchical relationships between organisms, that is a direct result of common ancestry.

And the findings of human chromosome 2 were the final slam dunk for universal common ancestry (UAE).

All (or most) living things on earth share the same genetic & metabolic systems. This is strong evidence for evolution from a common ancestor via natural selection (Darwin/Russel). Most living things also share the same homeotic genes that determine things like eye structure & body plan. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeotic_gene. I don't even bother any more to argue with Young Earth creationists & intelligent design advocates because they are looking at the world through the wrong end of their telescopes.

JacksinPA:

Shared genetics, yes. Shared metabolic pathways is a much harder case to make, given the diversity of life on Earth and accumulated adaptations to extreme environments in some living organisms and presumed pathways in fossilised organisms.

If you don't make the case to refute creationism/intelligent design as illegitimate scientific explanations for what others call natural history, then who will? It may be annoying and tedious repetitive work but it is also necessary to set these students into a different frame of mind. Buck up there, sir and be a relentless teacher of the young and uncertain minds which enter you lecture hall, you lab or your office. But also be an avid student to the young minds who can offer you new insights and understanding about things which have atrophied in your mind over the years. That's the fun in and joy of science as an academic discipline and a life strategy.

Cheers and keep teaching every day.
