what is a Mensch for you?

in German every human being is a Mensch

But in English only good human beings are a Mensch?

How do you use that word?
In German, "Mensch" simply means "person" or "human being". In Yiddish, it's a more loaded term, often referring to a person of integrity, honor, and good character.
The English just copied the Yiddish term.

Can a woman be a mensch? That's Yiddish, right, not Hebrew? Or German?
Yes, the Yiddish word "mensch" can be applied to women. While traditionally used more often to describe men, the core meaning of "mensch" refers to a person of integrity, decency, and kindness, qualities that are not gender-specific, according to The Forward.
