They were actually quite liberal...
descendant's of doesn't mean they are anyway.
Right and left usually pertains to economics and power structure, their political philosophies and bases are very similar in both cases. It's more of a reference to who should have the power.
social authoritarianism and libertarianism is different.
Back then the "left" was accused of being monarchy-apologists very similar to how todays left is accused of being national government-apologists. I remember criticisms of Obama being a "King".
...Monarchism is a right-wing form of governance.
What is a Leftie?
Been called it a few times.
Can those that are right of center, get together and please come up with a definition.
Huh, can ya.
Those that are right of center and do not use the phrase, Leftie are exempted from this onerous task.
But heck, offer an opinion if you wish to.
...
It was a power structure... they weren't really Monarchist.... but for a strong economically sound national government, with debates on the power of the executive branch and others in relation to the states.
Not really. There's a common trend in all left-wing philosophies: power to the people. The difference between the left and the right is the difference between a democracy and a republic. Or an anarchy and a monarchy. Communism and capitalism.

But it is still funny to watch you write.

I see you have trouble getting past the duality what you try to label everything as either left or right. The founders were very "left-wing" all believed power to the people. The power structure the left supports is of direct descendent of the Federalist party/Alexander Hamilton/John Adams.
Right and left has no significance in meaning... the only thing you can pin down is economic right and left. Left more national economic control, right less.
Just so you know... I do know that. But we are talking about American politics. The world didn't start when America was born, just so you know..
Political Compass - AnalysisBull****. There are plenty of authoritarian philosophies on the Right and plenty of libertarian philosophies on the Left.

I just saw the poll. This thread has more bait than a 12 grade gym class in Brazil.
The only forum I hear the term lefty is in American politics... but regardless if this discussion attributed to everyone, then it would be impossible to comment on because the term lefty would mean different things. That was never established either way...

Leftie, liberal, progressive in the context of political views, are synonymous.
Someone who holds a view which is to the left of the accuser's position. Despite how it sounds, "leftist" does not describe your view, it describes the relative position between your view and another's. Even if your view does not objectively fall into the left political lean it can still be "leftist" when observed by someone more to the right than yourself. What is a Leftie?
