What are your Plans for New Years Eve and New Years Day......

Heya AT. :2wave: Well it was the Year of the Snake.....Just sayin!

hrm, everlast. That would be a good nickname for my penis.

Omg, I so much agree. This was one of the worst years of my life. I am elated to see it ending.

If there was a life lesson through it all was to learn how to Roll With It Baby.

Football bowl games on the telly, day and night. Smoke a brisket. I haven't done New Year's parties since my late 20s, when it dawned on me why the morning after was feckin brutal. I worked a couple of New Years as a bartender. Ever since then I haven't enjoyed being around large crowds of people who don't know how to drink. New Year's Eve drunks are the worst kind, IMHO.

Snake would be a good way to describe it or behind it. The New Year is suppose to be the year of the Wood Horse.

"The Wood Horse year is a time of fast victories, unexpected adventure, and surprising romance. It is an excellent year for travel, and the more far away and off the beaten path the better. Energy is high and production is rewarded. Decisive action, not procrastination, brings victory. But you have to act fast in a Horse year. If you are not 100% secure about a decision, then don’t do it. Events move so quickly in a Horse year that you don’t want to gallop off in the wrong direction"

I'll drink to that! Salute!

It would be grand if the Wood Horse year would be a hobby horse. I'd like a year of childlike play and laughter.

Work at home tomorrow, go out at some point to the local dive bar, have a beer or two, go home, next morning, wake up, work. I'll pull off a 3 or 4 day weekend in January and fly somewhere with a beach, depends on how empty the flights are (retired airline guy, fly when there is an empty seat). Tourism to Hawaii and Mexico is pretty low in mid January.

Not interested in NYE parties, I've done New York a few times (even on 1999/2000), and done it in Honolulu, and we have one of the biggest NYE parties in the country here, tied to the Fiesta Bowl. But, too many cops, too many amateurs out drinking...no thanks.

Especially when Tubthumpin.

Nothing like some Wild Horses. Did I mentions I likes to ride bareback.

Me too Risky. Here's hoping next year we both have more for times of play and days full of laughter.

Since my mother is well, we're going to spend New Year's Eve with my family and then just sit around on New Year's Day like we usually do. Since Thursday, everyone goes back to work, might as well enjoy it while we can.

I will also be staying home this year. With every bar and restaurant in town expected to be open and ready for customers, coupled with most cities in need of more money, I expect the police to be very busy handing out DWIs to people who have been drinking, and I don't intend to join them. Ordinarily there would be a neighborhood party or two that I could walk to, but nobody has decided to throw one this year.

Between breaking my leg this Summer, then having pneumonia in October, I will be happy to see 2013 end! While 2014 doesn't look like it's going to be a picnic politically, either, at least it will be up to us to ensure it won't be 2013 all over again! I hope we succeed! :duel:

Greetings, Vesper. :2wave: Happy New Year!

We're having a small party at our place, only 7 or 8 people total. Should be fun though.

Hi Polgara, usually we will get together with someone holding a neighborhood get together. I've hosted a few over the years but like you, nobody has offered to host this year. In fact, this year hardly anyone even bothered to decorate their houses for the holidays. My neighborhood is usually all decked out with lights. I didn't put one decoration up outside this year. Bah Humbug! I did, however, manage to decorate the inside only because of family gatherings.

Sounds like you have had a really trying time of it yourself this year. Hope 2014 is much kinder and brings many good things your way. Yes, it is an election year and if it doesn't turn out well, this time next year we may all be alcoholics. :lamo

You're right! We really should have some kind of holiday to honor the first caveman husband, who accidently let the grains he had picked for his wife to make bread, get rained on. They fermented, of course, giving us our first alcoholic beverage...which thankfully allows us a Plan B...which you aptly pointed out as a possibility! Let's hoist one for him this New Years, okay? He deserves it for all the screaming he had to put up with, poor guy! :lamo:

i am guessing you experience that every year ... may the good times continue to roll, risky

for me, the new year will be rung in by the kang of the country & western troubadours, Unknown Hinson
here is a sample: new year's day will be wasted cooking chili and getting rid of some sticky herb and smoky porters accumulated during 2013

Thanks, bubba and the same back to you. The voices in my head told me to stop listening to the pecker heads. The world gets better by the minute.

I really like Unknown Hinson. I used to know a bunch of Hinsons in Charlotte. At any rate, I listened to a few of his songs and decided I am going to download some of his music. Thanks for that.

Smokey porter is excellent. I like porters, stouts and black IPAs. Last week I had a bottle of Mikkeller's Cat Sh*t Coffee Oatmeal Stout. The actual name is Mikkeller's Beer Geek Brunch Weasel. It is brewed with coffee beans that have passed through the digestive system of a Vietnamese animal that is similar to a cat. Sounds like something Unknown Hinson would drink. If he does he is a wealthy man. I paid $15 for a bottle. It was not bad at all.

Ride the hell out of that hobby horse next year and grin like a mule eating dry briars.

Heya Lady P. :2wave: Truthfully around here. We haven't heard about to many throwing any New Years Party. But you are Right.....the Police are already getting the word out.

We are also suppose to et some snow thru the night. So driving will be messed up anyways.

Don't look like to many of our New York peeps will be out at the NY dropping of the ball Countdown.

Heya Higgins. :2wave: That's it? What are you sick? Or just don't get into that New Years Spirit.

lol nah its 5:52am here and I am on my way to work, finish at 5 but I have a 4 month old baby and a toddler so I can't see me and the wife lasting till midnight. Couple a glasses of wine and we will be out for the count.

Ah yeah.....got a little one. Yep that will do it. Can't be down for the Count with little ones the next morning. Yeah I work nights to. Here shortly I will be heading out.

Myself I have never been in New York for New Years.....either way. I wouldn't be out in the cold. I wouldn't care how many woman are out there kissing guys.

I was surprised how many vehicles were out last nite and early this morning.....to top it off it we got some light snow and plenty of accidents on the highways and streets. We are suppose to start getting like 2-4 inches after 4pm today and tapering off to flurries over night. Some areas may get 6.

So it's going to be rough out there tonight.
