I'm skeptical of the decision making skills of the overly religious and question their ability to think critically, but I also understand the need some people have for that sort of thing. Facing reality head on takes a lot of fortitude.

No, people have a DESIRE for that kind of thing. Anyone who has a NEED, meaning they cannot live without it, has major psychological issues to deal with. Unfortunately, we've essentially allowed humanity to be weak, lacking that fortitude to just deal with reality as it is. I'd argue that said weakness is a major contributor to the majority of the world's problems. Anyone who really thinks they have an imaginary friend who helps them deal with real life is not someone I want in a position of power.

I don't understand it either since I'm not wired that way. But, what I do understand is that most people are wired that way. I do not know though if it is fear of the unknown, especially as it pertains to death, or a serious desire for comfort in a cold and random universe which drives them.

There was a time when I was very much wired that way. I got better. People can change if they want to, they simply do not have a psychological need, such that they will drop dead if they don't have it. Religion is a drug. Religion is addictive. That doesn't mean we shouldn't treat the addicts and get them free of their addiction.

I'm not in the faith of Islam,I do view Malcolm X,as a positive figure in America history. There nothing wrong with the teaching of loving thy selves when you're being oppressed as a people.

Malcolm X was the one that organized the Mexican bean pickers... right? He is a legend.

I really cannot agree with your last part. Personally, I favor a diversity of tactics and am as much againist dogmatic violence as I am againist dogmatic pacificism. On top of that, when one looks at history, especially nearing the end of the colonial era, violent movements were generally more successful than non-violent ones.

A book you might find intellectually interesting is How Non-Violence Protects The State.

Too bad they don't make em like that no more.

They say this is one week before Malcolm was killed. Awesome

Yep, Malcolm X was made of steel forged in the fire of hell

The stories my grandfather told me about the things he saw as a young boy are horrible. He told me how they killed a black man, right on the main street of town in broad daylight. So many horrible things.

Even to this very day, if a black man stands up and with force and conviction and says that white people have done something wrong, they will do everything in their power to destroy him.

And poor Obama. Pitiful. He has gone so far as to go out and murder people without a trial to try to please people. And this is the thanks they have given him.

That folks is what you call a crown of thorns.

Well, those are some of my thoughts on Malcolm X. I could write volumes.

Yeah, they had to kill Malcolm

Here's Malcolm's thoughts on the Civil Rights March

Some thoughts from Louis Farrakhan on Malcolm X

Farrakhan is an interesting figure. I wonder what he thinks about the so called "messiah" now that he has killed his benefactor Gaddafi? Amazing how that worked out. Amazing.
