Here in NM, we are in our 14th straight year of female governance. One elephant , one jackass. Haven't seen any improvement . Seems to have gotten worse.

Thank you.
Lawrence Lessig published the solution back in 2011 in his book:

Republic, Lost: How Money Corrupts Congress--and a Plan to Stop It

Basically he says to eliminate all means of campaign funding and replace it with one method. Each registered voter would be given a voucher worth a set amount of money that can be used by the candidate(s) of their choice.

Reduce the size and scope of the federal government. In short, starve the beast.
Not enough. We have to eradicate an American president's right to approve any military action without a congressionally approved declaration of war. By the time they finish arguing about it, the so called problem will have been resolved diplomatically

Female or male, makes no difference. Welcome to the dilemma of every state

That's the correct way. I would also impose some fiscal discipline on Commanders, and attach it to incentives (for example, making fiscal probity something they are graded on), as well as creating punishments for failing audits (say, an annual 1% tax on every service or joint command unable to pass one, starting in FY 2026, so they know it's serious).

This, however:

  • Vastly increase funding for diplomacy
  • Put sport/film charismatic celebrities on weekly zoom calls with world leaders to make peace deals
  • Audit, widely publicize, or more greatly tax defense contractor profits
  • Audit, widely publicize, or ban defense contractor campaign contributions
  • Audit, widely publicize, or ban defense contractor lobbying
  • Ban elected, government, and military officials from working at defense contractors
  • Ban defense contractors from public office, government positions, and Armed Services Committee
  • Elect anti-war candidates from both political parties
  • Reform both political parties to better allow outsider anti-war candidates to win primaries
  • Develop conflict resolution research, programs, and workshops at Colleges and Universities

Seems to be largely an exercise in naivete. Probably not the OP's fault (well, perhaps except for failure to think through the unintended consequences).

I fundamentally disagree with that. A threat to the US may require immediate action and/or complete secrecy prior to the act.

It's exactly what we need. That way, corrupt forces - be it foreign or domestic - promoting military action by applying undue pressure on a single individual - aka the president - can no longer exert undue influence and fund their grisly aspirations through unwitting and unrepresented American taxpayers

Sorry, no. Sometimes there isn’t time for a debate in Congress in order to save American lives.
