So, a new president, and a new thread. Since I obviously can't compare Trump to Biden, I'll have to settle for Obama. Since Trump had a space between his terms, I won't include the polling in either president's first term for the total averages (once we get far enough along to include them). However, that doesn't change the fact that Trump did have that interregnum and Obama didn't, which apparently means Trump gets the same initial bump in the polls as most new presidents and Obama doesn't.

Trump's past week:
  • Strong Approval 40%
  • Strong Disapproval 35%
  • Total Approval 55%
  • Total Disapproval 41%
Obama's past week:
  • Strong Approval 22%
  • Strong Disapproval 39%
  • Total Approval 47%
  • Total Disapproval 52%

Another Trump loving idiot thread. Enjoy if you get anyone to play

And what about how Lyndon Johnson used to act? Don't forget about that!

Rasmussen?
Yup, Rasmussen--on the RCP polling average list, one of the five pollsters that got the outcome right, and a full point better than the average poll results (1.5 off, versus the average of 2.5).

Not hardly. Trump's poll numbers have normally been underwater (the average for the entirety of his first term was 47-52), and I expect they will be again once the bloom is off the rose.

Is there a total permanent disgust, or does Rasmussen already have the categories that it needs?

Looking Good! I think Obama's fork indicates he's pretty well done.

Just to be clear, Obama's numbers are from the first week of his second term, so they're a little old. I don't particularly care what his numbers are now. From his failure to push Harris over the line, apparently neither does most anyone else.

I do not care about how popular someone is, only how well they do their job. So far, Trump has not done well in terms of job quality.

Yup, Rasmussen
They are rightwing hacks.

They're "rightwing hacks" that outperformed seven of the seventeen pollsters in the RCP's list for their polling average, tied with another six, and did better than the average by a full point. And as I said, they were one of only five that got the outcome right (seven predicted a Harris win, while another five predicted a tie). So they are "rightwing hacks" that did better than most in predicting the outcome of the last election.

They're also, so far as I know, the only polling company doing daily polls for presidential job approval.

What days are you using to calculate the average? I’m seeing Obama as positive under Rasmussen for every day January 2013.

There is a bloom on the rose?
I must not have noticed it.
Maybe some of those fellow felons who he set free, stole it before It could be seen.

I think Trump’s numbers may even be as good as these other popular leaders. Check out the yuuuuge crowds!

I'm not sure what this is about. Obama doesn't have a current job approval rating. Maybe "favorability" but not job approval. Trump is the only president with a current job approval rating and today his average sits at 51.5 approve and 43 disapprove. This early in this term, his average only includes 4 individual polls - so far.

In the first chart, we can see what the average approval was for Obama in each of his 8 years he served as president.

And the low TV ratings?

You're right, I screwed up. I pulled the numbers from Obama's numbers for 2012 by mistake. Thanks for catching that. Here's what the numbers actually are:

Trump's past week:
  • Strong Approval 40%
  • Strong Disapproval 35%
  • Total Approval 55%
  • Total Disapproval 41%
Obama's past week:
  • Strong Approval 31%
  • Strong Disapproval 35%
  • Total Approval 55%
  • Total Disapproval 44%
So Trump's numbers are still better, but not as much as I thought.

There is a bloom on the rose?
I must not have noticed it.
You may not have, but I imagine any number of Democratic politicians have.

I'm not sure what this is about. Obama doesn't have a current job approval rating.
The numbers are from the first week of Obama's second term.

He's been in office all of 23 days.

People are simply aghast that a new president would start fulfilling campaign promises so quickly in ways they probably did not expect. Shell shocked might be an apt description. Immediate first week polls, while interesting, will not yield trending directions. That will come when the effects start to have a negative or positive effect on the general public.

I think you could have Long Haul ODS.

You should get yourself tested.
