(WGN News) Trump seemingly walks back decision on sending troops to Chicago

They are so out-of-touch it's ridiculous.

We sincerely need the history and thought the older generations can provide us, allow the current generations to have grounding and a sense of history to build the future upon.

But, dayem. When they are locked a half-century in the past, they are such a detriment!
When you’re terrified to leave your own neighborhoods, this what it looks like. The guys behind “department of war” are all terrified of public transportation. Republicans are apparently done with real life and cosplaying on every subject.

Freedom has its cost, Lord of Planar.
Not when it stretches to anarchy. Freedom does not allow laws to be broken. When crime gets out of control, the local governments need to stop it. When the local doesn't, it falls to counties, then states. When the crime is still unacceptable, it falls on the president.

You could start with Posse Comitatus.
That is not part of the constitution. That is the federal law I was referring to. I wanted to let you make that mistake, proving you don't know squat.

You said "Our Constitution specifically forbids..." The Posse Comitatus Act is not part of the constitution. You might want to read the constitution for once. In this case, Article IV section 4.

I value your opinion. Who would concern you, as being a real threat, from the Dem side?

(actually, I might not respond for a bit; I've got to get heading-out)
I don't know. I know Dems opine they currently have a strong bench, but I don't see it that way. I'd argue the fact that Newsom is leading the polling pack makes it pretty apparent the strength of the bench is lacking.

Chicago has always been known for large organized crime. Large mafia families. You can bet the control many aspects of the state. Probably have assets in the federal government too.
No wonder Trump decided not to invade. His kind of people run the place.

I'll start by saying I think both would be far less than ideal nominees for the Dem party in 2028. But, with that said, I very much agree with you that Newsom would be far better at generating Dem enthusiasm and turnout than Pritzker.
Dems are already pumped to come out and vote. It's the Independents who count and I think Pritzker may appeal more. Seems to me that the GOP is particularly keen on Newsom.......for a reason.

Early days.....right now it's about news cycles and name recognition.

Trump has to blow up boats off the coast of other countries and he has to send the military into liberal cities and he has to rename governmental departments and he has to lie about job numbers because he has to change the subject away from Trump being a pedophile.

He's still testing his boundaries, seeing what he can get away with. Much like the $$ cuts and EOs he spammed us with in his first few months. Now he's trying to see how much he can get away with to show he's a strong man like Putin or Orban or Jong Un, ...throw his weight around.

He just got humiliated by China's show of military strenght...and the rejection in not being invited. Now he has to prove his dick is bigger. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I have only one comment:

"Those who give-up freedom for the hope for safety, deserve neither freedom nor safety"

-
Benjamin Franklin

(yeah, I paraphrased from memory)

I've been posting that too.

"Freedom doesnt mean safe, it means free" unkwn

--and--

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Ben Franklin

Latest polls show Newsom beating Vance....so much for a strong bench.

Maybe it the Chicago cops the NG fears I was there in the 1968 riots. The demonstrations were declared "Anatomy of A Police Riot". Scared the poop poo out of me.

Unacceptable is a vague subjective word
The high crime rates in red state cities were acceptable to trump, but lower ones in Chicago isn't?
