Sorry if the Times isn't a mainstream news piece, but I thought this deserved a posting. Feel free to move as necessary.

Western troops accused of executing 10 Afghan civilians, including children

American-led troops were accused yesterday of dragging innocent children from their beds and shooting them during a night raid that left ten people dead.

Afghan government investigators said that eight schoolchildren were killed, all but one of them from the same family. Locals said that some victims were handcuffed before being killed.

Western military sources said that the dead were all part of an Afghan terrorist cell responsible for manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which have claimed the lives of countless soldiers and civilians.

“This was a joint operation that was conducted against an IED cell that Afghan and US officials had been developing information against for some time,” said a senior Nato insider. But he admitted that “the facts about what actually went down are in dispute”.

BS.

American troops don't line up and execute anyone, let alone children.

First, they said western forces, so it could include but is not limited to American forces.

Second, I'm glad that you're not in charge of such an investigation.

I really hope if the story turns out to be true, that Americans where not involved. I have strong doubts the story is true, though it is possible, and I have even stronger doubts Americans where involved.

His source was not democracy now. Don't build that straw man.

uhm try to follow along. I added to his link with a link from Democracy now, stating it was supposedly Americans, then commented on it.....

The failure is all yours. :2razz:

You added a fringe source to try and discredit the story. At least own up to it. His source is somewhat more reliable, admits the facts are in contention, and does not blame Americans. Who cares who fringe element loonies blame?

and ladies and gentlemen, let's thank redress for bringing an actual strawman into the conversation!

Brava!!! Brava!!!!!

Well there's nothing wrong with investigating this to see if it's true.

I don't really consider this article to be the most reliable, anyways, which is why I'm holding back any real position on the matter until there's more to go on. I mean look at the guy that wrote it:

I can't take anyone that writes for the Daily Mail at their word.

To say it's true or false at this state is just stupid.
