West Point alumni group cancels award ceremony for Tom Hanks

That ‘woke’ and ‘destructive’ Tom Hanks in 2021.

———-

Did you for some reason think West Point is immune to political pressure?
No. I did not think the academy is immune to political pressure. No institution is immune. Service academies have the extra burden of implementing the Commander-in-Chief's policies. The alumni association, which makes the award, has no such burden.

It did not say it was cancelled because he would not get it either.

Until you show me something that reverses the award decision, you are clueless.
Clearly, the fat orange shit stain thinks Hanks won’t be receiving the award.

I smell Trump and Hegseth’s grubby fingers all over this.

In case of paywall:

The alumni association at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point has canceled an award ceremony for actor and veterans advocate Tom Hanks, citing a desire for the Army service academy to focus on preparing future officers for war after several political controversies involving the Trump administration shook the institution this year.
Retired Army Col. Mark Bieger, president and chief executive officer of the West Point Association of Graduates, disclosed the decision in an email to faculty circulated Friday. A copy of Bieger’s message was reviewed and verified by The Washington Post.
Hanks, 69, was to receive the prestigious Sylvanus Thayer Award, which recognizes an “outstanding citizen” who did not attend West Point and has a distinguished record of service that exemplifies the academy’s ideals: “Duty, Honor, Country.” A ceremony and parade were scheduled for Sept. 25.
That's too bad. Really, not sarcastically.

You also thought Kamala would win the 2024 election. At least Hanks walks away with the honor of an award. He's a great actor, and a good guy.

Read the OP.

What on earth does that have to do with Trump undercutting the alumni association?

I also thought the Baltimore Ravens were going to win their last game……you pulled a Lindsay Graham getting off the train for what, 48 hours……Pepperidge Farm remembers.

He is amazing. He has played a wide variety of roles with perfection. Who would have though 40 years ago the Buffy Wilson would be so popular?
