1. "Freedom of religion". This was a bad idea. The Founders should have created a state religion, like the Church of England, and forced everyone to convert to it. The Bible, for example, clearly says you have to be a loving person in order to be a Christian. If you're not loving, you're not a Christian and are going to hell. Therefore, any "Christian" sect which isn't loving is heretical and should receive no Constitutional protections. The state should ban it. Example:

1 John 4:7-8

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

2. "Freedom of speech". Also a bad idea. Certain speech, such as racism, shouldn't be Constitutionally protected.

I can think of other reasons why the 1st Amendment may have been a mistake.

Could it have been a mistake because MAGAs aren't keen on loving one another?

Please, sir, expand you post.

Some souls, sadly, are lost.

Yeah, a lot of them aren't. I will admit that.

The problem is that anyone is allowed to identify as a "Christian" just like they're allowed to identify with a gender pronoun of their preference. Regardless of whether or not there's any way of vetting them to see if they meet the criteria.

Did you miss the part where it says, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God?" Romans 3:23.

I sacrifice virgins to the fire god out of love for my god and love for those sacrificed who will be rewarded with the eternal embrace of my loving fire god.

If the 1st is imperfect, it's not because of what you raised.

Big problem with that: Forcing people to pretend to observe a religion they do not really believe in is not "loving.'

fyi: The Bible is not a good manual for life, nor is it an irrefutable reference of right and wrong. Many do not recognize the Bible as valid because it was written by humans, who are fallible.

They disagreed.

Go start your own country and then you can make the rules I suppose?

...

it isn't

...

Yes, it is.

Racist speech is wrong, but it's covered under free speech. The 1st Amendment doesn't only apply to speech we think is OK. That's the beauty of it.

Considering the christian lobby brought us nothing but cruelty, graft, corruption, and every deadly sin in a president, who needs it?

The Bill of Rights is the only reason the Constitution was ratified. 🤷‍♀️

Without the guarantees against a state religion, the Constitution would never have been a thing.

It’s too bad people like @Rambozo didnt pay attention in their history classes.

There is no such place as "hell."

It was made up to scare idiots into believing in a creator/overseer being.

If any such mythical being truly loved humans it would not punish them for failure to worship it.

FYI: I have said nothing about you. I respond to what you have said. If you go personal and try to make the discussion about me that will be the end of it. I am not here to engage on a personal level. I come to enjoy academic discussions. Thank you. Good luck with that. I see you have gone after others in that way.

The history of religion has its own set of problems. But like any other power, people of power will corrupt it.

The only problem I see with the first amendment regarding religion, is it should have had some considerations against radical Islam, and religions created after the first amendment.
The Bible, for example, clearly says you have to be a loving person in order to be a Christian.
Do you think the idea of religion should exclude Judaism, Hinduism, and others that are around the world?

I think it was a great idea except for the founding fathers not having a time machine to see what radicalism can do. Outlaw this radicalism. Not the religions.

Laughs in American.
