I saw this clip this morning on RealClearPolitics and took several things from it:
1. It's probably the most non-confrontational discussion featuring 2 people so far apart on their views of the world I've seen.
2. The entire discussion took place in a way that I wish all discussions among adversaries would...
3. Unlike other discussions I've seen with people representing the extreme left, there was no animosity shown toward the opposition and no avoidance of the facts about their true views and beliefs.
4. Instead of trying to protect the stronghold that liberalism has on the American education system, Mr. Churchill told the truth about how he was fully accepted and even praised by his peers, having full knowledge of his beliefs about America and the fact he was teaching those beliefs to his students.
I applaud Churchill's honesty because even though in his opinion our education system leans right, he makes it very clear by his description of how he was accepted and praised for 20 years by his peers, that in spite of the consistent denial and dismissal from the left our education system in America was in fact hijacked by the far left decades ago and has been indoctrinating generations to revile America, rather than embrace her, ever since. This confirms my beliefs and the beliefs of millions of others, as to why the political left has become so anti-American, anti-capitalist, and has so little respect for the constitution, our founding principals and people of faith. It explains why hatred is so predominant in their political arguments and plays such an important part in their political belief system.
Churchill's response to Kelly's question asking him to name one thing that America has done that's good really said it all. He not only could not think of one thing that America has done that was good, when Kelly suggested what I consider a no-brainer, that America had "liberated Europe in WWII", Churchill disagreed and credited the Soviet Union for that achievement.
Dinesh D'Souza did a fantastic job of describing how the political transformation in America has taken place over the years, and pointing out why the left has embraced such anti-American sentiments. The fact that Churchill never disagreed with what he was saying makes it pretty hard for anyone to argue the points he was making, but Im sure that won't stop you all from trying.
