Walmart, and Target for that matter, would be the better examples to illustrate the results of Trump's multiple-way tariff based trade temper tantrum. Walmart becoming more interested in the grocery business over the general retail outlet business is not a surprise either, that trend has been going on for years now.

Trump’s strategy of deliberately raising prices is a curious way to go about his pledge to lower prices.

Walmart Plans to Raise Prices Because of Tariffs
The retailer said Thursday that it plans to raise prices this month and early this summer, passing along some of the cost as tariff-affected merchandise hits store shelves.

“The magnitude and speed at which these prices are coming to us is somewhat unprecedented in history,” Walmart Chief Financial Officer John David Rainey said in an interview. He said sales rose steadily in the latest quarter as shoppers flocked to deals and fast shipping, but the full impact of the trade war on consumers has yet to come.

Those inflation numbers from April? Yeah, probably too soon to reflect tariff effects.

Even at 30%, there will need to be some pass on of the cost to the consumer.
LOL, the Walton family isn't hurting one bit. For an interesting note, why not look up how much each of the Walton family members paid in taxes last year or the one before that or before that. Walmart's doing just fine.

Was someone arguing that Walmart was going to be hurting?

Not in this thread

Very important that they get a tax cut, though!

your red herring is still looking for a home with the straw man

or maybe it was a simple whoosh

The fact the Walton family is very wealthy has nothing at all to do with Walmart passing on tariff costs to their customers. If you believe two are connected, I would question your judgement and critical thinking skills.

They earn 100 million per day.

So higher prices are okay with you?
I would swear MAGA screamed bloody hell when prices were high un Biden.
What happened to the screaming?

They will continue to do just fine because they will pass on this extra cost from the tariffs to you. Not sure what point you were trying to make here....

Democrats and Republicans all swap sides on "Greedflation" in 3.... 2.....

The state of the Walton family isn't the issue, but how the business is doing and what is impacting its operational costs and how it assesses its profit margins. Now whether or not they're seizing the opportunity to use tariffs as a cover for increasing prices is another story, but when Harris talked about this the MAGAverse went ballistic over price controls.

Tax breaks for the rich have been mentioned.

What a strange thing to say. The real issue is that prices are being increased on American consumers as a result of Trump's dumb, illegal, and incompetently managed tariff policies.

This is the kind of thing everyone was worried about, but Trump supporters kept trying to suggest wasn't happening.

They will have to learn the hard way and experience some of the sting of some price hikes before they'll recognize how stupid Trump's tariff policy is.

No, this is passing on the COGs to the consumer.
This is exactly what we said would happen but you cultists decided to believe an idiot liar in Trump.

I would not consider passing off the cost of tariffs as "greedflation".

sure, but it's an opportunity

like garden weeds, if you give grift an opportunity, it'll thrive

It's not like it's been that long since were were gouged over and above the increase in the costs of doing business

Of course they are. They're just going to raise their prices, is all.

;) Think you may be thinking of someone else.

WHAT!?!

You are NOT in this thread worried that Alice Walton might be unable to afford her umpteenth private island with matching yacht?

that's ****en wild

@Integrityrespec right away went to calming folks who were worried about Walton's financial well being for a very good reason
I suggest you let that marinate

Did you hear a whoosh sound when you wrote this?

Why are you focused on the Walton Family's well-being, rather than the hardship higher prices will cause your fellow Americans?
