So now some christians aren't happy to put their ads on the radio, billboards and in TV ads.

Now they are going to put their christian ads on during the Super Bowl.

We can't even watch a football game without being bombarded by the christian faith.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the real christian faith but would Jesus really want 1 billion dollars to be spent to promote him or would he want that 1 billion dollars spent on people who needed help?

This is a man who spent his time with hookers and lepers. Who told rich people to sell all they have and give the money to the poor. He also told his followers to pray in private and not in public. So I think that he would not want any faith advertised and forced on people.

Beyond that, can't we just have a football game without any religion involved? Does the christian faith have to be in everything?

There are all kinds of adds done during the Super Bowl. Do the woke leftist ones require comment on your part or is it just those gross people who don't believe what you believe?

I have spent time with hookers (probably way more than Jesus). Do I get a billboard.

Its a basic freedom of speech thing, so they have every right to run adds. If I were religious of the Christian persuasion though I would be skeptical of those running adds on my behalf.

It's going to take more than super bowl commercials to redeem the image of Christian faith in America. Religion works better where there is no competition, and Christianity has way too much competition for life activities that people want.

It's conservatives running the adds, so, I think they should look inward at any damage done to the "brand".

The best way to promote Jesus is to go into the world and help the poor, the sick, the widowed, those in prison, and others whom life has treated harshly. It’s called loving your neighbor.

God needs a publicist!

Or it's just someone commenting on the odd commoditization of a religious figure. If Jesus were a brand of paper towels, or a car, there would be less to talk about. However, since Christ was an advocate of the poor and often talked about using wealth to help them, this is a weird way to spend that kind of money. YMMV.

Commoditization? Are they selling a product?

Yep, especially since he seemed to have led by example. I don't recall Jesus having a mansion in Galilee from which he had his disciples do all of the charity work.
;)

Jesus just needs a snappy slogan

Any ideas?

So, go take make some guacomole when the ad is running. Your friends will appreciate it.

Is going to be blond haired blue eyed white Jesus?
Could be. Nothing wrong with that. Also, there's nothing wrong with Black Jesus, Asian Jesus, Native American Jesus, Hispanic Jesus, or any other Jesus out there.

All the sane Superbowl viewers in America will ignore the noise from the fake 'christian' 'conservative' scum, and enjoy the game. They are loons, far from Jesus-like, don't deserve any attention. Money buys ads, even from scumbags.

Product, no. Brand, yes:

MSN.com article in the OP said:
Our research shows that many people’s only exposure to Jesus is through Christians who reflect him imperfectly, and too often in ways that create a distorted or incomplete picture of his radical compassion and love for others,” Vanderground told The Washington Post. “We believe it’s more important now than ever for the real, authentic Jesus to be represented in the public marketplace as he is in the Bible.
This is a re-branding effort for the people backing the ad; apparently they want to expose people to the "real, authentic Jesus" which I can't help but wonder is how different than the Jesus many already worship. I have no issue with them running the ad, but it's an interesting way to do it; and one that doesn't really jibe with the Biblical Jesus' actions and words.
