This will be a thread on the trump trial with Michael Cohen testifying. Please don't get bogged down in bad faith requests to explain what the crime is, or respond to claims that what Trump did wasn't a crime, why the trial is politically motivated, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

I'm going with Adam Klasfield, but of course there are others who are just as good.

A lot of ground work has been laid rehabilitating Michael Cohen with pre-corroborating witness testimony. If Cohen lies today, his testimony will inevitably contradict other testimony in a myriad of ways, big and small. Also, the prosecution has thoroughly prepared the jury for the fact that Cohen isn't Mr. Charisma.

The defense's most obvious tactic is to mar Cohen's credibility, and the prosecution will be sure to get ahead of all of that, making sure the jury understands that if Cohen was an honest and decent folk, he wouldn't have worked for Trump in the first place. That being the kind of person he is was the job requirement for being Trump's fixer.

I argue at this point there is enough reasonable doubt, and as such, a non guilty verdict is warranted

I can foresee a hung jury, perhaps 11-1 or at worst 10-2. No way will an acquittal happen. Of course, I am leaning toward a guilty on all counts with the jury out for just a few hours. The prosecution has put on an excellent case. It all boils down to the jurors.

I doubt Cohen's testimony will come down to other evidence for the prosecution, this case very well may hinge on how well Trump's legal team goes after Cohen. The case may be made or broken in the next day or so.

The others' testimony is merely to establish a host of supporting evidence...all of it important!....but Cohen is supposed to be the bow that wraps everything up: Trump's active role in the crime. In other words, the mens rea.

And this won't be in the form of an email saying, "Hello Michael Cohen, this is Donald Trump. I am directing you to violate New York State Penal Law §175.10 -- falsifying business records."

If somebody who's been doing a better job of keeping up can explain this to me, I'd appreciate it.

Isn’t that about the “$750 million not to testify”?

Well that's why I'm asking. I missed all of that.
$750,000 not million. I skimmed through it.

If the defense team handles Cohen as miserably as they handled Stormy, nothing to worry about!

Different bag of potatoes. Part of Stormy Daniels' job description is being likeable, and Cohen's job description is being....well....Michael Cohen.
Stormy (I hate that man) Daniels. Buy my panties on my website Daniels.

Michael Cohen still going through background. I don't know how long this will go on for.

Right off the bat, Cohen makes it clear that his work for Trump was never meant to be above-board.

In case anyone's thinking, "Why is Cardinal posting tweets for a feed we can just as easily follow ourselves?" Valid question. I think posting them here just makes it easier to find those tweets later. Twitter's format is counter-intuitive for finding old tweets.

Trump's habit of personal direction of matters is being established.

Anyone have a live link to the trial?
