North Korea on Friday threatened to attack South Korea without any notice via a fax sent to South Korea’s National Security Council, the Ministry of Defence said in Seoul. The fax made reference to recent demonstrations in which effigies of Kim Jong Un were burnt in Seoul on the anniversary of Kim Jong Il’s death, an issue that often aggravates the North.
South Korea reacted firmly to Pyongyang’s warning that it would “mercilessly” attack “without notice” by sending a fax back that promised “resolute punishment” to any attack initiated by the North.
Later, South Korea’s unification minister denounced the attack, calling on North Korea to stop making threats against Seoul.

Dr. Nicolas Levi, a North Korea expert that specializes in understanding the North Korean leadership, told NK News that Pyongyang has a history of escalating tensions around Christmas.
“This is nothing new and I’d point out that when the situation is becoming stable, the DPRK is threatening the South Korean partner. I also believe that they are threatening South Korea more often than what we know.”

Which in my mind makes it entirely suspect. Not that such a fax didn't arrive, but that it wasn't some peeved underling that just wants to cause trouble. Is there any other viable source. I went to that website and it looks quite strange, it has streaks across it and flickers and I'm not convinced.

Kinda like breaking up by text.

Weird. Mine works fine.
It looks a lot more like a blog than a legitimate newspaper. I'll wait til there's some other confirmation. Did you really scan it? NK News based in Washington DC run clearly by an American? ?

So what should our response be? Send them an AOL CD? Or is that too much technology to trust them with?

Just because it's not a headline on MSNBC doesn't mean it isn't real.

Here it is straight from their buddy China: DPRK threatens to attack S. Korea without warning CCTV News - CNTV English

If you ever want to have a chuckle, stroll through the "official" articles from the DPRK's news agency: News From KOREAN CENTRAL NEWS AGENCY of DPRK

So the fine folks in Cuba and Venezuela and other Spanish speaking Communist/Socialist countries can read it and absorb the lovely propaganda.

Why didn't I think of that...

This is typical - North Korea always replies with bluster when South Korean protests sting it's feelings.

The JST execution and subsequent purges are keeping the regime busy for now, anywho. Although I could see another staged incident as proof of power... not a great time for additional risk for KJU.

considering the number of land fills likely full of those things, e could literally bury the country with them

biggest surprise here is that NK has the technical know how to send a fax

It was a kidnapped Japanese scientist who sent the fax at gunpoint.

Believe me, this is the least of NK's antics.

The one thing I took away from their nuclear provocation in February was "If Russias telling you to chill you know you ****ed up, these are the guys that support Syria".

It would be super funny is this idiot didn't have nukes.

As a BTW., China has played a big role in keeping NK under wraps however their primary contact in NK was the recently executed Uncle Thaek . I think this dude is looking to have is butt kicked by an international coalition led by China and the US. I honestly don't think he'll be around long term and wouldn't be at all surprised if affected parties are already working on plans for a re-unidentified Korea.

man, so much weird **** from NK. I remember first reading about the japanese kidnapping and couldn't help but think of how bizarre it is that a country would just go through the trouble of nabbing random people from the street and forcing them into citizenship. That's not even getting into the stuff about forced movie productions like this

Actually I enjoyed the movie

Actually I enjoyed the movie

but the thing with kidnapping the director and forcing him to make a communist version of Godzilla is just so bizarre that it reads like something from a bad James Bond knock-off
