The problem I'm presenting is:

"Trump's '100 Days' deportation numbers do not seem to hold-up to scrutiny"

These discrepancies involve items such data mismatches across departments, to other problems like flight data that displays the number of flights - even if filled to capacity - could not come to even less than half of the deportations claimed.

When questioned, the key people in the Administration have no answers and can provide no transparency nor assistance.

Apparently, the number Tom Homan says is the number it is, take it or leave it - no questions asked.

Given that Homan's claimed numbers are 20% lower than Biden's actual numbers (something that irritates the Administration), it's possible Trump's numbers are actually far inferior to Biden's.

I'll let you make-up your own mind.

Depends upon how deportations are calculated.

The Biden Administration counted people turned away at the border as a deportation.
Don't know if the Trump Admin continued that dishonesty.

There is no reason to trust any statement, any released stats, by the Trump Administration.

Of course not.

Now there are other explanations that might result from creative accounting, but it begs the question as to why the Administration would feel the need to fudge their numbers, when there may be allied factors to the otherwise decent job they seem to be doing in some places elsewhere? For example, the decreased border crossings.

See, that might be a reasonable explanation the Administration could use.

To say, "We're deporting less because there are less individuals being repatriated at the border", is a reasonable explanation.

But, they're not saying that. Rather, they are claiming numbers that don't add up no matter how they're crunched.

But but but... Biden.

It's not "but but...Biden"
The OP is specifically about the deportation numbers of the Trump Admin and compared them unfavorably to the numbers of the Biden Admin.

Whether the comparison is valid is depending upon how the respective administrations calculated 'deportations.'

Is anyone surprised that when you randomly fire a bunch of people from an organization that the remaining employees may have trouble doing their jobs?

I don't think that's it.

I believe Trump & the Administration intentionally lie & fudge.

They almost certainly are. This is yet another perversity of the scum of the Earth MAGA. Obama and Biden deported more. Their deportations focused on turn-aways at the border and deportation of violent criminals.

Now, it is a point that maybe turn-aways shouldn't count. But you can bet now that Trump's numbers are going to have a lower percentage of violent criminal illegals, which is what Obama/Biden directed their resources towards. (Hence the attempts to create the illusion, like taking a photo with the letters "M S 1 3" put on with Microsoft Paint, in an attempt to mark what ICE claimed were MS13 tattoos, and then Trump going on camera and claiming that the "M S 1 3" was actually on the guy's hands, directly refuted by a Bukele tweeted picture of the guy.

Fact of the matter is that DACA is justice, and MAGA is evil. Deport the violent ones. Deport the drug dealers. Sure, yes, do it. That's where our limited resources should go. Instead they're just grabbing the most grabbable and MS-painting "gang tattoos" onto them....and even then their numbers are lower.

Just... ****... these people are awful.

The Biden Administration counted people turned away at the border as a deportation.

They've all done it.

Have you considered the dishonesty of complaining about alleged "open borders", then discounting border turn-aways but only when the Dem is president? If border turn-aways increase with border-crossings, then that shows the border is more closed.

Nevermind the next layer of MAGA perfidity: these are mostly people who followed US law and presented at the border to seek asylum.

I am convinced no one knows how the calculations are being made, and even if the Trump Administration tells us I doubt I'd trust the explanation or the numbers.

If the numbers do not add up then the game is up, even if the reference to Biden was not intended what matters is it does not elevate the numbers not adding up.

No. The Biden Administration started counting this way to inflate their deportation numbers.
It was political.
It was dishonest on their part.

Does the Trump Admin continue to count this way? I doubt it because:
1. The stories seem to be that basically nobody is trying to cross the border any longer.
2. We never heard the types of stories in the Biden Admin we are hearing now in the Trump Admin: people being picked up off the street; etc etc

I'm willing to stand with you, here.

Yours was a direct comparison, possibly pertinent to the problem being discussed

I don't think that's it.

I think Trump & the Administration intentionally lie & fudge.
I’m 100% sure they lie. But they’ve also made the job more difficult for themselves with their random attempts at improving efficiency.

You're right on point with all this. Thanks for a great post.

Nobody discounts 'border turnaways."
But as people aren't coming to the border to be turned away, yet the deportation numbers are high, it must mean there are true deportations occurring.

Perhaps they used chatgpt.

I suspect the numbers are vastly inflated to make the administration look good, much like Bondi's claim of saving 268 million fentanyl deaths.

A solid "but Biden!" deflection away from the Trump admin's lack of transparency. It could use a bit more pizazz however. Next time could you add in some Sleepy Joe and hair sniffing stuff? Hard to take your MAGA seriously when the deflections to Biden are, well, boring.

Homan has not disputed that deportations are still being counted this way.

What he hasn't come clean on, is why his numbers do not add up.

400 flights. How did Homan get more out, than the planes could carry?

These are important questions, as human lives are at stake. Could he be holding people indefinitely?

There has to be accountability for human lives. Not just physical & moral accountability, but legal & Constitutional accountability.

And nobody is saying there shouldn’t be an apples to apples comparison to prior years. The point of this thread is that the current apple count doesn’t make sense and the people counting the current apples have a reputation for being dishonest.

I’m 100% sure they lie. But they’ve also made the job more difficult for themselves with their random attempts at improving efficiency.

Alright, that's fair.

But if they're so fudged-up they can't do proper accounting, there's likely human rights, legal, Constitutional, and moral problems in their actions.

These are human beings, not cattle or vermin.

Pam Bondi will hold a news conference shortly to announce that 620 million rapists and murderers have been deported.

How? Not by plane.

That's the problem. The claimed numbers are higher than Homan can account for.
