Vacation Bible School

I remember attending VBS once where it was like a retreat in the wilderness. We stayed in cabins. And during the day we did fun things like Horseback riding and Canoeing. Our religious lessons were maybe once or twice a day but it was more about surrounding yourself with other believers and doing typical kid things.

we went to camp in the Winter and did snowmobiling.

in the summer i went boating, BB guns, riflery, singing, chow, insect collecting and off to grandma's house for vacation.

God also called me one summer night and i opened my heart to faith and found peace with God.

Let me know when you have something of value to say. :)
What I say, is of value to those willing to listen and consider the implications. One cannot have a conversation with those unwilling to regard what one says.

Worthy advice. Feel free to put it into practice. (y)

I went to Vacation Bible School at several different churches as a child, and I always had lots of fun.

That's nice. I want to a Christian Bible Camp called TRI-STATE BIBLE CAMP and had a blast. They had a pool and all kinds of games, and we read the Bible.

Did you ever attend a Bible Summer Camp? I'm sure even JESUS played sometimes as a child. That is how one makes friends.
Cool. No, I don't do Bible study. Kids like mountain bikes, not Bible study.

Great program.

You are being judgmental and also making a blanket statement. Kids can like both and some like neither. However, one can certainly make learning/ reading enjoyable. And the Bible has many, many recorded events that can be simply read or thought through very deeply. A great Bible study, for instance, gets everyone in the group making comments and revealing their considerations. A dry Bible study would be one that is being controlled by one group that is pressing a specific view regarding everything said.

???

I'm advertising. Just like you. Summer camp. You gave yours. I have mine.

I never got to go to vacation Bible school.

As a kid we all loved it. Back in the day an area church would furnish transportation to the church. Most churches back in the day owned a secondhand school bus. A friend might invite me to his church's vacation Bible School. It would last a week. He would tell me where we were to wait for the bus. The bus rides might last 20 minutes to 1/2 hour depending on the number of kids being picked up. The church was always an area church. The Presbyterian church likely had theirs one week and the Bible church another week, the Lutheran church another and so on. Every year that was another theme (the jungle, planes, zoo, a club house). At the Community Church I attended we waited outside and form lines according to our ages. There would be a procession song. One year it was ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS and the lead group carried the flags and we all marched inside. We sang songs, there was a skit, we'd have a Bible drill, and there were teams with chances to win prizes. There would be a short recess and then some pretzels a long with (in our area) DRINK ATOAST (now known as BOOST). We'd work on a craft of various sorts (depending on the theme). These programs would generally last a couple of hours a day for one week. And then FRIDAY evening, there would be a special program where the parents were invited to hear us sing and see what we had accomplished that week. Of course, we could get extra points for our team by bringing more friends and for coming everyday and learning memory verses. Puppet show were great, and also flannel graph stories were popular. I never remember any fights ever. We were likely loud and noisy but being disrespectful wasn't the norm. Things were arranged to keep the kids occupied and moms had a blessed time to themselves without the children about. Much of what I know about the Bible was through Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. We met other children, learned about responsibility, being kind to one another, being helpful & honest. From what I remember, if one didn't go to Vacation Bible School ---- there usually wan't anyone around to play with for a few hours (and that isn't fun).

You'll shoot your eye out kid!;) I once played with such things too. I'm sure my guardian angel was working overtime.

Cool. No, I don't do Bible study. Kids like mountain bikes, not Bible study.

i am one of those kids who like mountain bikes and have owned one since the 80's when they first came out. when people dumped the 26" wheeled ones for cheap, i scooped them up.

now people collect them.

so i am a kid that likes MTB and bible study. both of these past times are good for this life and the next i feel; our bodies are God's temple, so riding bicycles is part of what keeps the Body a great temple of God.

try it Mike, ride yur bike and pray. then sing some hymns or listen to Scripture.

come back and tell me the Wonderful spiritual experience you had noticing God's creation.

when you repair/maintain yur bicycle, pray for wisdom to do that well. see how this works Mike, try it and like it. come back and Preach bro.

blessings Mike, see you on the mountain bike trails. maybe we can pray together at times, and in the next Life to. stop buy my Gold Mansion on the other side; my mansion will have some Great Bikes hanging on the walls and out back.

the Trails in heaven are great and we never get hurt. we can ride with @tosca1 , @LittleNipper and other bible Thumpers.

Great program.

The core beliefs of the church I attend are as follows:

WHEN IT COMES TO OUR CORE BELIEFS,

There are a lot of different views within Christianity on important issues. Our aim is to emphasize those doctrines that reflect the foundational beliefs of the historical Church.

WE BELIEVE
that the Bible is inspired by God, perfect in all that it teaches, and the final authority in faith and life.

WE BELIEVE that there is one God who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE that humanity is spiritually broken and lost because of sin that separates us from God.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus is the perfect Son of God, both fully God and fully human, who gave his life for the sins of the world.

WE BELIEVE that salvation—restored relationship with God for all eternity—is a free gift that cannot be earned, but can only be received by faith in Jesus.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus will physically return to judge both the living and the dead, and to establish God’s kingdom on earth.

A friend in 2nd grade invited me to go with her to her Free Will Baptist VBS. It was foot washing and full immersion Baptism Day. Oh, and there were dry cookies and lots of paper cups with Kool-Aid.

So, did you drink the kool-aid? :giggle:

We had Drink A-Toast when I was a kid in the Riverside, NJ area years ago. Today it's called Boost! It was/is a sort of Cola syrup that comes in a bottle and you'd mix plain or carbonated water with it 1 to 3 ratio. Fun Facts (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boost!)
