WASHINGTON—Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the Republican who leads the House committee primarily responsible for conducting oversight and investigations of the federal government, said Thursday he may leave Congress before his term ends, a day after announcing he would not run for re-election in 2018.
“My future plans are not yet finalized but I haven’t ruled out the possibility of leaving early,” he said. “In the meantime, I still have a job to do and I have no plans to take my foot off the gas.“
Meanwhile, Utah officials have begun preparing for a special election to replace him, said Lieutenant Gov. Spencer Cox.

Should Mr. Chaffetz leave the job early, he would be the Second Republican to step aside from a role Monitoring the Trump administration.".."
It's possible Chaffetz has seen clear, convincing evidence of Trump committing treason.. And he wants to distance himself as far as possible away from the current administration before they go down.

It could be just as likely that the House kitchen only stocks cherry popsicles and Chaffetz hates those, so he's leaving to get a better choice of frozen treat. It's possible Chaffetz has seen clear, convincing evidence of Trump committing treason.. If that were a sarcastic post (and at first thought it must be), it might make sense. It could be just as likely that the House kitchen only stocks cherry popsicles and Chaffetz hates those, so he's leaving to get a better choice of frozen treat.
As is the post I was responding to.If that were a sarcastic post it might makes sense.
As it stands, it's ridiculous.

EDIT to below.
No, it still makes No sense.
Chafetz' position in the Congress makes his Rush to leave all the more telling.
I agree. Correctional facilities only stock those horrible off brand popsicles and not the genuine article. It's preferable to stop at 7/11 for your favorite brand of popsickle, on your way to The Capitol Building than order them on commissary from a correctional facility.

Now this is speculation based on logic and common sense. Other posters should take note.Anything is possible. It's possible he wants to be governor, which IMO is the most likely scenario, and leaving early would only hurt him. He should finish out his term.
Good thinking. Sorry it went over your head.If that were a sarcastic post (and at first thought it must be), it might make sense.

EDIT 2:
Moon posts (now #8) still making NO sense.
I'm not going to waste 5 more posts and Ruin the string quality on his nonsense/popsicle 'replies.'

Though I'm still partially convinced it's the whole popsicle thing.

Lol......
If there was " convincing evidence " we would know about it by now.
It would have been leaked months ago

Something doesn't add up with his story. He says he's not running for reelection for family reasons. But, we know that's not true because he said he's going to run for governor. But, they all just say "family" because it's a safe word, that gets them out of explaining themselves:
Then the next day he says I'm resigning early.
I'd look for the Paul Ryan's and Mitch McConnels to start distancing themselves from Trump, before I made a definitive call on what the investigations are going to conclude.

Perhaps Trump has the man lined up for a new job, kinda of a thank you for going easy on the ethics with Trumps folks.
It's possible Chaffetz has seen clear, convincing evidence of Trump committing treason.. And he wants to distance himself as far as possible away from the current administration before they go down.
That doesn't makes sense because if he had an culpability in the matter he would only be making himself look more guilty of something. If there actually is evidence of treason the best thing for him to do is to ensure, to the best of his ability, that the matter is addressed properly.
Congress is elected every two years.I think he has 3 kids if I remember right. Being in DC while your family is thousands of miles away sucks. Having your kids at your side while you govern the state is much easier.
I can't believe another ridiculous 'popsicle' 'reply.'tres borrachos said:Like I said, anything's possible. Hell, his Mormon wife may be having an affair with the ice cream man and he wants to be closer to home to catch her for all we know.
Hark! yeah it could.tres borrachos said:It could have to do with Trump, or lots of other things. I like the man and wish he was staying where he was.
I think Trump would have a hard time convincing the citizens of Utah to toss Chaffetz aside as a favor to him.
