This is an interesting find.The USS Hornet launched the “Doolittle Raid” in early 1942. More propaganda than tactical value. The ship must have sunk and settled in an upright attitude. (See the photo of the IH tug in the hatchway)

Yet another great discovery by the team assembled and paid by the late Paul Allen. The RV Petrel was purchased by Mr. Allen, and is now continuing his life-long passion for locating ships that have been list in the past. Prior to this, the ship had also located the Japanese Battleship Musashi, USS Indianapolis, and USS Juneau.

I look forward to seeing what this team can do in the future, it really was a dream of his to locate wrecks like this, and is a great legacy that he has left us.
