France has summoned the US Ambassador and clearly they are not happy over this. Especially finding out Hollande was Spied upon which he had taken Office after BO had finished up his first term. Do you think BO and his Team after finding out how the French were making fun of him and them, that they took action and looked into what Hollande was talking about? BO did know he was upset with him over Syria? Note: BO spokesman said nothing to address France's claim.

Also I would note the Liberal Writer who stated the matter was alleged. Do you think the French would be this upset if it was just alleged. At first they didn't seem to upset about the other French Presidents. But then Hollande's name came out and their water began to boil. Hollande was pist and immediately called for a Security Meeting with his own people. What say ye?

France calls in US envoy over spying, holds security meeting.....

France summoned the U.S. ambassador to the Foreign Ministry and the French president held a high-level emergency meeting Wednesday following revelations by WikiLeaks that the U.S. National Security Agency had eavesdropped on the past three French presidents. President Francois Hollande called the U.S. spying an "unacceptable" security breach.

The documents appear to capture top French officials in Paris between 2006 and 2012 talking candidly about Greece's economy, relations with Germany, and American spying on allies. While there were no huge surprises, the release of the documents late Tuesday angered and embarrassed French officialdom.

Calling the spying "incomprehensible," Le Foll told reporters "France does not listen in on its allies." The U.S. Embassy had no immediate comment on the WikiLeaks revelations.....snip~

Those ****ers were selling weapons to Saddam Hussein up until just before we attacked Iraq. I'll never forget that.

Greetings, MMC. :2wave:

Well, not too many months ago, Germany was outraged when they learned we had spied on them, so now it's France? Who's next to learn we spied on them, and exactly Why are we spying on our allies? Shouldn't we be concentrating on spying on our enemies that hate us, like ISIS and other terrorist groups - surely that's sufficient to keep us busy! We were angry when we learned that our government personnel files have been hacked recently - twice it appears - but I'm reasonably certain it wasn't one of our allies who hacked us. WTH is going on, and how would BHO feel if he learned that someone had been spying on him? Trust has left the building, and once it's gone, it's nearly impossible to regain, so why has it come to this? :2mad:

Seriously,

Countries spy on each other. Friend and foe, alike. It has been happening since the beginning of time, and it will continue until the end of time. Countries need to stop with the faux outrage, and people need to wake up and give this the  it deserves.

The US government spies on the entire fooking world. That is why we are so popular and loved these days. ;) It even spies on congresscritters.

Wiki-leaks put out some old news. France wasn't to vocal when the news came out with Germany and Merkel. Now for some reason.....they are outraged.

Mornin' Radcen. :2wave: Wiki and Snowden will just keep on releasing the classified info they stole. Eventually something will be released while another issue is at hand. Causing more friction that what would have been there.

I'm sure you're right, but I still see all the outrage as insincere. They do it, too.

That and all the times where they poke the US in the eye with a stick whenever they get a chance to. With friends like this . . . . .

The EU countries are taking turns. Who's going to be next? Get a pool going?

Exactly. Their pretending it's any different than this is playing to pure emotion, and trying to thwart US intelligence. What's next, we uncover where they are spying on the US and publicize that?

We all are and have been and will continue to spy on one another.

I wish I could ask "can things get any more ridiculous?," but I already know the answer, which is Yup!

Greetings, Polgara. :2wave:

Seems the world is hell bent on setting itself on fire in pretty much every way imaginable and by the most ridiculous methods over the most ridiculous issues.

I suppose we can only hope that it'll settle down for a spell once it's worked through all these.

:lamo Didnt we essentially do the exact same thing? But I get it, every country must be a lap dog to US aggression toward other countries.

We spy on 193 or the 196 officially recognized countries. That is absolutely ridiculous. We have increasingly spied on our allies as if they are our enemies. Welcome to the beast we have created driven by fear, paranoia, and power.

Which three do we not?

Excuse me. There were 4 countries. "Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand were declared off-limits by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, the Washington Post reports, but the court approved a list of 193 countries where the NSA could legally conduct surveillance." Snowden Leak: National Security Agency Allowed to Spy on 193 Countries

But then again we know the NSA did many things that were not approved by the FISA courts.

I have no way to prove it, but I'd bet we spy on them also. Or, at the very least, keep tabs.

Because, ya know, our spy system has this wonderful history of following the law itself.

It would not surprise me. As Snowden said, "…they are intent on making every conversation and every form of behavior in the world known to them."

Yeah, I don't think to many went for what that French Official was saying about they don't listen in on their allies.

Good thing BO and his Team didn't hear what the French actually think of him. We got enough problem already.

France was double-dealing the whole time at the UN. Supporting UN resolutions for Hussein to come clean, while making defense deals. Want to show me where the US did that?

Here's some more on this;

What the WikiLeaks documents reveal about US spying

Dismissing the spying on friends - interesting. This is why company's spying on American's also get a yawn. The one day we wake up with a probe up our asses and a little metal hat controlling our brains, thoughts and movements and that inner voice that is still conscious asks, "Gee... how did this happen?" :lamo

:lamo :lamo We did the same exact thing with Iran and Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war.
And what do you mean "making defense deals"? When were these defense deals made?
