US officials say North Korea may be planning military action to create chaos ahead of US election, report says

If their "surprise" is as successful as their failed recent satellite launch, we've got nothing to worry about.

So I might be able to answer a question about the satellite, but there is still some difficulty with confirmation that is reliable. It seems the launch failed. And I am rather sure that information was made public by the Japanese media, but not sure about English language media folks.

And a strange twist on timing was that I called a former SDF member for some help on this and he went on to tell me that just hours before we talked he was informed that the DPRK launched a number of medium range missiles early this morning our time.

I can now post this after waiting until NHK released some information, although some details are still not clear. But they launched quite a number of missiles and I can only assume they were trying to indicate that the failure of the satellite launch was no big deal when it comes to missiles/rockets of other types.

Frankly, that is a serious throwing away of money they really don't have, but I have to state I am happy they want to throw away their money on a show like that, which is really not necessary. You'd figure somebody who is supposed to be running a nation would have a few more brains than what this whole business displays to the world. But glad to see the throwing away of money and the display of a kind of childish behaviour. One should feel some pity for the ordinary folks in that nation. Can't feed their citizens, but can launch 8 or 9 or 10 expensive pieces of hardware to offset a failed satellite launch. Humans can sure be weird sometimes, can't they? I think I'm going to go have a chitchat with one of our neighborhood cats later and discuss this human weirdness with him. I'm sure he is quite smart as he has a very nice size stomach and so knows how to keep from going hungry. And I must admit, I've never seen that feline playing around with any rocket devices. Must know food is way more important than some toy rocket.

EDIT: I didn't see your post, Roadvirus, before I did my post. I guess the English media folks also knew about that launch failure. I am very bad about not paying a lot of attention to the media folks. Actually, my former colleague in the SDF did sound a tad odd this morning when we talked on the phone. Now I think I understand he might have thought I was sort of stupid asking him about something that was already released to the media folks. But he did sound quite happy to inform me about the launches of that other hardware earlier today.
