A US naval commander has been sacked over his alleged links to an elaborate bribery scandal that involved prostitutes, luxury travel and multimillion-dollar government contracts, officials said Friday.
Captain Daniel Dusek, commanding officer of the USS Bonhomme Richard based at the port of Sasebo, Japan, was relieved of his duties "due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command," the Navy said in a statement.
Another naval officer, Commander Michael Misiewicz, who commanded a destroyer and served as deputy operations officer for the head of the Seventh Fleet in the Pacific, has been charged in the case, as well as a supervisory special agent for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).
The firm cited by federal prosecutors is Glenn Defense Marine Asia, and the CEO, Leonard Francis, has been charged, along with Misiewicz and the NCIS agent, with conspiracy to commit bribery.....snip~
WTF.....more US Naval Commanders hooked up. An investigation led by the Justice Dept? Holder and his team?
You know.....its about time the Justice Dept of the US gets purged. Including.....Judges and any Political Prosecuting Pricks. Then all those that work in the background. Time to go all PC like with the Justice Dept. Lets take it all the way down to anything and everything they touch and who works for them. Including ALL those SNITCHES on the Streets.
Military/Industrial Complex. Don't bet the farm on any sweeping changes.
Meantime Congress tries to reduce the budget. :wink3:

The Navy is breaking records every year with how many commanders (not just CDRs) they are relieving. Sad reality of the Navy today. The desire to stay in for most has faded as it's just too easy to get relieved for a variety of reasons. This case may be different, but the legitimate reliefs are overshadowed by the BS ones.
Heya SBu. :2wave: It's looking like that all across US Armed Services. Which for years they have been pushing to get those out before they get their 20 in. Although there needs to be an understanding that there are some that are not meant for a Civilian life.

>" Former 7th Fleet deputy operations officer, based on the USS Blue Ridge at Yokosuka, Japan, Misiewicz was assigned to the Northern Command at Peterson AFB in Colorado when he was taken into custody.
Two other individuals arrested and allegedly in the middle of the fraud to overcharge U.S. warships for essential services - providing tugboats, food, fuel and fresh water - as they visited ports of call in Singapore and Thailand, are NCIS supervisor and Special Agent John Beliveau, and Leonard Francis, CEO of Glenn Defense Marine Asia Ltd.
Beliveau was cuffed in Norfolk, Va., while Francis was arrested in San Diego.
According to court documents, Misiewicz - on the captains list, no less - took bribes of expensive gifts and sexy prostitutes in exchange for "tipping off" alleged co-conspirator Francis and so-called law enforcement officer Beliveau, which ships would dock where, and whenever possible, using his influence to arrive at those locations.
The crooks preferred ports where security measures were lax. For example, when the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln tied up at Laem Chabang, Thailand in 2012, American taxpayers were over-charged by a cool $500,000.
What made the 45 year-old Misiewicz throw away the story-book, fairy-tale life that would have ended in honorable retirement and a fat pension check? Lust and greed.
All three accused face up to five years in prison if convicted of conspiracy in the port-of-call crimes..."<
CMDR MICHAEL MISIEWICZ

You lost me....are you claiming this might not be a legitimate relief? I'd love to hear the logic.
But actually, I'm curious now. Could you give a couple of examples of illegitimate relief of command so I understand your criteria?
Loss of Confidence resulting in being relieved for command. Coming about due to others activities under that command. Hows that work for ya?
That's not an example, that's a...you know, I don't know what that is. But it's not an example. Can you give an example of loss of confidence resulting in relief. And a commander is responsible for everything that happens under his command.

Oh and The other.....with the Admiral. It was Inappropriate Judgment Command.....which Obama relieved him of command this year.
Stars and Stripes reported October 18, 2012 that General Ham is being replaced by Gen. David Rodriguez. They also reported on October 27, 2012 that Adm. Gaouette is being replaced by Rear Adm. Troy M. Shoemaker. The Navy stated that it was "replacing the admiral in command of an aircraft carrier strike group in the Middle East, pending the outcome of an internal investigation into undisclosed allegations of inappropriate judgment.".....snip~
Obama relived both an Admiral and General over Benghazi
General Ham Admiral Gaouette Relieved Of Duty - CNN iReport
Except Gaouette and his command were in the Pacific and nowhere near Libya on Sept 12. And Ham stayed in command until April 2013. He wasn't't relieved, it was a normal end of tour.
Yes he was, but not over Benghazi.Except for the fact of what the Admiral was relieved from Command.....
March 2011 to April 2013 is less than a year? Which planet's year do you mean? And 2 years is a normal command tour. So other than conspiracy theories, I find nothing to suggest Gen Ham was relieved for cause.moreover General Ham took that assignment and was in Command for less than a year. Do Generals take commands expecting to be relieved at the End of what you are calling a tour. Do you think Most Generals tours are for less than a year?
and bringing up vague reasons for relief doesn't't change that the charges in the OP were for bribery....hardly a spurious charge.Changing the tangent still doesn't change the fact of those types of Charges that caused these two senior commanding officers to be relieved from command.
Yes he was, but not over Benghazi.
