thread title doesn't even begin to show the depths of our involvement -but it makes the case we are at war against Russia
U.S. docile media repeat the administration’s line that we are not really at war with Russia, but we are.
The administration has used the global financial system as a weapon of economic warfare against Russia.
The proxies in our supposed proxy war include not just Ukrainian troops, but also American technology and American troops.
Ukrainian military’s communications are protected from Russian jamming because they use Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite.

The American government is paying American manufacturers to send state-of-the-art weaponry to Ukraine in order to destroy Russian equipment and kill Russian soldiers. American soldiers train Ukrainians in the use of the HIMARS rocket artillery system.

Biden’s economic warfare might not have beaten Russia, but it’s driving America’s European allies into a recession.
It’s not doing much for Americans, either.
The dollar gets almightier by the day as the tired, poor, and huddled masses of foreign investors seek a safe haven for their pounds, euros, and yen. Prices of imports rise with it. Meanwhile, rising energy prices have boosted Russia’s energy export earnings by 38% this year. Russian oil exports have risen by 12% despite six rounds of economic sanctions.

The U.S. is fighting a war on the other side of Europe that it cannot win, and the Europeans don’t want a war at all. This is the very definition of overreach.
It is exactly what George Kennan, the architect of Cold War containment, warned against when he called the Clinton administration’s expansion of NATO up to Russia’s borders a “tragic mistake.” The Biden administration’s strategy is compounding that mistake.

The premise of your post is that Russia isn't getting the absolute garbage kicked out of it.

Of course the US is making an outdated power play. The US is in decline and stuck in a 1940s mindset, as are most Americans.

Question for you, @anatta:

Do you care that US militarism is destroying what's left of Earth's ecosystems?

After interfering in our elections, which is basically an act of war, to help elect a narcissistic demagogue, we should destroy Russia.

so Russia should "destroy" the USA for interfering/imposing a drunken Yeltsin?

nonsensical
By the end of this war, Russia's economy will be completely decoupled from the West, and their ability to threaten their neighbors will be erased. China will no longer have Russia to distract us, and our focus will shift entirely to them. Putin's decision to invade Ukraine created a set of cascading events that could very possibly result in Russia becoming a failed state.

Wow. The partisan hackery, hypocrisy, and stupidity increased.

not a failed state- probably a new leader who promises to restore Russia - much more dangerous then Putins land grab of Ukraine
China isn't going to decouple from Russia -that would be a strategic blunder /China does want to distance itself from the war (sanctions/trade etc.) but not Russia "enduring friendship"

Not really. For once, this mindset actually applies because we're dealing with a country that is in the advanced stages of turning into a Western democracy, and without us forcing it on them. Unlike Iraq and Afghanistan, they have a national identity, a history of bureaucracy, and....best of all...they actually want to be a democracy. For once, the Marshall Plan mentality actually works.

^ See, they (the partisan cheerleaders for stupidity) know what this is about. ****ing Democrats are now worse than neocons.

Yeah, but a failed state outcome is on the table, which is itself pretty remarkable. That wasn't something anybody thought about before the war.

China isn't going to decouple from Russia

I didn't say they were. I said they'd be decoupled from the West.

China now has an increasingly destabilized nuclear power on their border, and Putin will demand things of Xi that will strain the alliance.

Men and women of moral and physical courage - Ukrainians - are fighting against a fascist strongman, his war criminals, and his rape and castration gangs.

The US is not fighting in Ukraine.

My offer to you stands, Putinist: I will pay for your passage to Russia, where you can debase yourself to drunken Russian applause.

Opinion rejected.

Oh, and the US isn't at war with Russia.

Ukraine is.

Do you feel better, now that you got that off your chest?

I didn't feel bad, so no.

I do feel for the innocent people who will suffer because the US Pentagon is such an asshole.

Russia invaded Ukraine.

China ... our focus will shift entirely to them.

I hope the warmongers are around long enough to experience the end game of US militarism, nuclear suicide and ecocide.

It's all that matters. Everything else is bullshit in the service of a gangster pimp.

Uncle Sam sags his flag pants.

See #20; that includes you.
