Since The New York Times published a story in June 2020 that claimed US intelligence concluded Russia offered bounties to militants in Afghanistan to kill US troops, it has slowly been revealed that the report had no basis. On Thursday, putting the final nail in the coffin of the Russian bounty hoax, the Biden administration walked back the claim.

"The United States intelligence community assesses with low to moderate confidence that Russian intelligence officers sought to encourage Taliban attacks US and coalition personnel in Afghanistan in 2019 and perhaps earlier," a senior administration official told The Daily Beast.

All they said was that they couldn't prove it, but that it remained a low to moderate possibility. Do you have a problem with actual transparency and honesty from our intelligence community? Or are you so brain washed by the Trump way of doing things? Lie about everything.
 
Good for the US Intel Community. If they make an assessment at such a low level of confidence (low to medium in this case), It should be reported as such. I am disappointed in some of the media outlets that did not report this accurately. The level of confidence in the assessment is what is important as it always is with US Gov agency assessments.

Some of the media outlets simply reported that the Bounty issue did not play into this round of Sanctions and then offered no further explanation. That is left handed reported IMO.

Wait a second---- during the campaign, Mr. Biden said this was fact and he cited this as a claim that Mr. Trump was soft on Russia. Many people hereabouts said the same.
It was a false claim. There was no 'honesty' apparent in the story as released.
It was yet another story about Mr. Trump or his administration, that we learn, over time, was without factual basis. There has been a lot of that.

It is quite possible that Biden did not have the actual assessment and level of confidence at that point. It very likely was known and hidden by the Trump WH.

Since he would have had the correct information....bully for him. May I point out that Donnie Rotten was just about completely incapable of criticizing Russia or Putin it makes sense that he would have used the correct information in this instance.

That said...it was still another donnie LIE. That the assessment was of low to medium confidence is not quite portrayed by a claim of "fake news". But you boys are better at the Trump shorthand than I am. I did not bother to get my copy of the Trump to English dictionary and at this point NOBODY NEEDS ONE!

Just like he had the correct information when intelligence agencies thought he had conspired with Russia during the 2016 election.
There was a reason why Mr. Trump didn't trust the intelligence agencies.

While Trump had the correct information he did not relay the correct information to the public preferring to define an assessment at low to moderate confidence as fake news.

You need to keep up. The Trump Campaign COLLUDED with the Russians now confirmed. Are you saying Trump was not responsible for his campaign?
