Good job maga. You screwed yourself and your families. And your kids.

"The suspension is another disruption to the nation's food safety programs after the termination and departure of 20,000 employees of the Department of Health and Human Services, which includes the FDA, as part of President Donald Trump's effort to shrink the federal workforce."

"The FDA this month also suspended existing and developing programs that ensured accurate testing for bird flu in milk and cheese and pathogens like the parasite Cyclospora in other food products.

Effective Monday, the agency suspended its proficiency testing program for Grade "A" raw milk and finished products, according to the email sent in the morning from the FDA's Division of Dairy Safety and addressed to "Network Laboratories."

This is a travesty. Ensuring the American public was guaranteed clean food has been one of the greatest civilizational victories of the United States.

To any Trump-supporters lurking on the thread: Are you looking forward to buying parasite-laden milk products? Will you just tell us that it builds our immunity? Will you just say neither you nor anyone you care about ever buy dairy products? Or like everything else will you tell us that we are over-reacting?

If Trump thinks he is getting any deals on dairy trade with Canada he can think again!

Agreed; food safety was one of our nation's strengths over the past century.

Fortunately we do much of our shopping at Japanese markets and while those prices will increase, I can at least trust their inspection mechanisms over the soon-to-be-non-existent US ones... sadly.

Republicans are responsible. All of them.

Yep. Republican politicians, pundits and so many of their voters literally want to make the world a worse place for everyone, themselves included, for no reason except sheer spite. I mean, it is not as if they and their families do not consume milk products too. They do not even have a motivation as interesting as the average Saturday morning cartoon villain. It is just school shooter psychology.

I was gonna say that they're all assholes, too, and then I chickened out. However, I'm having a nervous episode, and it's time to get a little bit crazy, as my high school buddy used to say. Gotta ride that shit for everything that it's worth.

I'm very tired of dealing with their faux addiction. They should try pot and documentaries instead.

I imagine that if they or their families are sickened by tainted milk products, they'll simply blame Democrats and/or immigrants anyway.

In a sane world, it would be illegal to deliberately lie and misinform people on the level that Fox News does.
faux is exceptionally lucky that I'm not the autocrat. I would deal with the problem. Might even bring you in on it, and we could have a giggle. Wouldn't hurt anyone of course, but their equipment might suffer a bit.

Either that, or we will be told that not wanting us or our families to be stricken with cholera or listeriosis is us being "woke" or having terminal TDS.

The First Amendment includes equal parts good, bad and ugly. It's a pillar of our society, but that pillar comes with the price tag of giving people the right to spread lies right up to the point that the population en masse runs the entire nation off a cliff because they believe somebody ate a cat or controlled a space laser.

I mean, Fox News found out the hard way that the First Amendment does not literally give them license to just make up anything they want or credulously give liars a platform to spread harmful defamatory information about anyone.

Not even an unnamed anonymous source. Now it's an unnamed anonymous email.

I'm sure it will be fine, don't worry about it.

Surprising to learn that eliminating a quarter of HHS’s staff could impact its operations, eh?

Almost as surprising to learn that HHS is doing milk quality testing. Why isn't is the Ag Dept doing it? Or are they doing it too and this is just one more redundancy in the bloated metastasized federal government?

Who knew the FDA was at HHS? Very surprising.

Perhaps they have a more sinister reason behind it all. I can see a bunch of new test kits popping up on the market allowing consumers to test their own food. Who benefits from this? The wealthy corporation owners who produce the tests. It's just one more way to transfer wealth uphill.

Same with canceling FEMA and numerous other government agencies and programs. Force the consumer to spend more of their hard-earned money.

The good news is that the parasites will contain no artificial dyes.

FDA. Food and Drug Administration. Milk = Food. It's not hard to understand.

Just take the covid medicine. Everything will be fine.
