US Commander: Reward Sunni's for fighting Al Queda

It is IMHO a sensible suggestion, but, I think you will find that the Shiite Majority Government of Iraq have no intention of rewarding the Sunni fighters.
The Americans have long called for reconcilliation talks to take place between Sunni & Shiite, without thus far any action being taken by Shiite majority Government of Iraq.
 
giving stingers to the Taliban seemed like a pretty decent idea too.

Not that I'm saying that this is definitely a bad idea, but that its time we started picking our allies alot more carefully then we have before.
