US, Canada flight bookings fall 75%

I have avoided anything in the Puget Sound area for over a decade.

Canadians are NOT well received there.

Really? I have never heard that. I also have no context or experience in that... it just sounds strange. Examples?

I like Oregon and the people, California is like Canada. But I avoid Washington like the ****ing plague.

I am from Oregon and was raised in California, so that might be my disconnect with the hatred in the Puget Sound.

I agree.

Belligham is a terrible place.

Nothing but Americans

You’re Americans. You live on the continent, right?

I hate that word gets misused.

Hey, MAGA’ites, just for your edification “Make America Great Again” is actually a reference to every nation that resides in North, Central or South AMERICA.

Any country on the two American continents.

Why is it good that normal people are getting screwed over? Honest question.

.
The intention of the retaliatory tariffs is to punish America. That includes the "normal" bits of it as well.

I support our government's approach.

LOL... not the case at all, bud. We're travelling tons -- just not to the US.
Yup. Italy in June, St Lucia next winter.

The St. Lucia trip would normally be a Florida visit as my brother lives in Port St. Lucie. Instead we're meeting in neutral territory ⛱️

I've been going to Florida and San Antonio pretty much every year since 2008. Never again.

Jealous. I so want to go back to Italy -- one of the most enjoyable countries I've ever been.
I had planned to visit a friend in Boston this summer and I usually make it to the Adirondacks/Saratoga a few times every year. I'm sad to say it's no longer the case now and most likely in the near future.

Some European cities are getting so crowded with tourists that the locals are protesting. That's the case with Barcelona which is on my bucket list.

With Canadians and Europeans now avoiding the US this situation might get worse. The solution for me is to look at places that are a bit off the beaten path.

Even before all of this bullshit, I am sure many locals in Florence and Rome felt suffocated from the tourists. That's why I so enjoyed visiting all the little villages in the Tuscan region... incredibly beautiful and off the beaten path.

Never say never.😉

In the case of (not just) Barcelona, it's not so much anti-tourism as it is lack of affordable living space for the locals, due to apartment owners renting their properties out via such organizations as AirBnB etc.

That way they make a bundle per weekend or week that a long term rental to neighbors can never get them.

That's been going on for years now and, since I share the indignation, last time I went to Barcelona I made sure of staying in a proper hotel.

I don't know what the solution to this very real problem is. Ban or limit the number of short term rentals?
