This issue is probably putting the president and quite a lot of Democrats between a rock and a hard place. To appease the environmentalist, greens, etc, they expect the president to disapprove Keystone. A lot of the union types want the good paying jobs and want the president to approve it and approve it now. I think Obama is trying to walk a tightrope here. He is delaying and delaying his decision afraid if he says yes or no, it may effect some of the vote come November. But then there is always the chance it makes both sides mad and a lot of them stay home. It is like I said, we will have to wait and see.
My how people have changed on taxes since the days of Eisenhower.
We have Reagan and wanting to be like the Joneses next door to thank for that.
And to think we really need an overhaul of our entire infrastructure built during IKE, as it has now aged to its life span.

Money, lies, dirt, muckracking, done by both sides. Ideas, solutions, visions mean nothing, just the negative attack ads. Opposition research, but I guess that is okay. Total federal spending was around 75 billion.

The only thing that bothers me is that assholes keep voting in Dems and Reps and expecting different results. Why do you think most elections aren't about what a candidate can DO, it's how bad the other candidate is? And when the candidates DO say what they are going to do, it's usually a bunch of lies.

My point on GOP primaries wasn't about the POTUS, but the Senate, where we have wicked battles right now in your Georgia, even SC, North Carolina, KY, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Alaska and so on .I think all the nasty attack ads in 2012 ran be fellow Republicans against Romney hurt him more in the long run than the ads ran by Obama in the swing states. A lot of Republicans have told me while Romney was trying to win the nomination, Obama and team were defining him in the swing states which Romney couldn't respond to.
But left unsaid about them was all the nasty stuff going on between the Republicans themselves. Romney came out of the primaries with a very high unfavorable rating, especially among independents. I forget the exact numbers, but it was something like Nationwide 40% viewed him favorable, 50% unfavorable. But independents viewed him worse than those numbers. Romney was able to bring it his favorable ratings up to a 44/44 tie, but could never get his favorable to overtake his unfavorable. Meanwhile, Obama wasn't that hot either, finishing up at something like 51/45. But it was enough to get the indies to split their vote 50-50 and with the larger Democratic base, the rest is history as they say.

This is great news......the Big Unions are going after the Demos and Obama. Not only for this pipeline.....but as told to the Hill, it includes O-care. Now that is fantastic. Democrats vs Democrats......all during this upcoming election. Cause by Obama and his delays over this matter too.
A top building trades union is launching a midterm-election assault on House Democrats who oppose construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
A letter distributed Friday by the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA) to the districts of 27 House Democrats calls for union members to make sure their representative "feels the power and the fury of LIUNA this November."
"For every action, there is a reaction, and our reaction to this frontal assault on our way of life needs to be loud and clear. If you do not stand with us, we sure as hell will not stand with you," O'Sullivan wrote, noting the jobs Keystone would create for union members.
LIUNA also sent letters to the House Democrats directly, dangling the 2014 election threat in front of each member. The Democrats on LIUNA’s hit list include Reps. Frank Pallone Jr. (N.J.), Anna Eshoo (Calif.), Raúl Grijalva (Ariz.) and Tim Ryan (Ohio).
The push by LIUNA underscores the backlash President Obama might face in November if he punts a decision on the oil-sands pipeline past the election. The decision pins Obama between different factions in the Democratic base.
