North Carolina coach Larry Fedora suggested Wednesday that the game of football is “under attack” due to the focus on head trauma in recent years, claimed that “our country will go down too” if football is fundamentally changed and, in a coup de grace of stupidity, said repeatedly that he didn’t believe the links between CTE and football have been proven.

No need to dance around this. If Fedora actually believes what he said, he’s too dumb to coach college football and should be fired immediately.

A coach like this shouldn't be employed.

Be it wrong or right, He just does what any sports coach would do.. bring in a athlete, use them to make money for the college ( and therefore himself ) and send them on their way. No on forces a athlete to play college football. The athletes do it either for the free education ( maybe 1%) or the dream of big money in the NFL. ( the other 99% ).

Changing the game drastically won't hurt the country, but you start putting flags on the players hips and eliminating big hits ( as they keep trying to do) and people will stop going/watching the games. That goes for college as well as pro.

If you have ever been to a football/hockey/baseball game.. when does the crowd cheer the loudest? when a fight breaks out, when a big hit is made, when the benches clear..

Maybe we should bring back gladiator fights ( to the death). That would fill stadiums
