As they should given the Novichok attacks and other actions and provocation by the Russian Federation.

The UK is about to go on a bit of a spending spree for the military to upgrade our equipment.

I honestly can't see the UK itself being invaded for the simple fact that as a relatively small island with a decent military and allies on hand we'd not be worth the effort. Russia could give it a go and maybe win but in that case I'd expect the remaining British armed forces to be given safe haven in allied basses and we could mount quite the comeback.

The Tempest fighter that's in development is already looking pretty nifty and it seems to be getting all the funding it needs to actually happen.

The original tempest design was incredible. I wish the luck in the new design.

Russia is not going to invade the UK.

The Tempest will likely be cancelled as it is too expensive to develop at the same time when buying F35's, which have not been ordered to meet UK requirements

Why does everyone (including lots of Americans) act like an "invasion" is the only serious military threat a nation faces?

What do you think the US would do if Russia attacked the UK?

The important thing is that the people who count don't think that's "the only serious military threat a nation faces".

and Moscow thugs know it , it wouldn't be Georgian and Ukrainian if they joined NATO in 2008 . " During the NATO summit in Bucharest, United States and Poland called for Georgia to be allowed to join the Membership Action Plan (MAP). The alliance decided not to offer Georgia a MAP due to opposition from several countries, led by Germany and France, who feared the decision would anger Russia. "

I'd expect the US to help as per the NATO treaty but there's always a chance you could decide not to for prefectly valid reasons.

Russia tells the UK Prime Sinister what to say and what to think.

I'm optimistic about Tempest.
There are rumours that F-35 orders will be cut and the money saved put into Tempest and Sweeden and Itally have both joined the program. With all the talk about renewing British defence manufacting at the moment with large orders for ships for the Navy I think Tempest has a 75% chance of being built and into squadron use.

You can bet that United Kingdom will still not allocate enough in their defense budgets to make a real difference in their deployable military.

That said even without NATO, the U.S. would help the British if it was attacked.

The UK has just announced the largest increase in defence spending since the end of the Cold War.
We've recently moved back to 4th in the world league for defence spending which is pretty impresive for a country our size.

I suppose but I can't imagine it. I view the UK as our strongest ally.

Good. For one year. But will UK make a ten year (or longer) commitment to increasing defense spending.

And IIRC, the British count military pensions as part of their defense spending, so raw spending doesn't necessarily mean a more capable military.

Nope.
It's for the next 4 years at the very least.
The plan is to help revive ship building in the UK which we used to be rather excellent at having a maritime empire.

I'd post a link but my stupid tablet im on doesn't want to do that for some unknown reason and I'm about as tech savvy as a stone.

I would be interested to see United Kingdoms coming plans for the Royal Navy. Historically they've been the second strongest navy in the Western world.

its very logical , UK was attacked with chemical and nuclear weapons by Moscow´s KGB state terrorists thugs
"Death of Alexander Litvinenko 'was a nuclear attack on the streets of London'"

Up until WW2 the Royal Navy was the largest in the world by far.
It's the reason we had such a vast empire despite only ever having a modest army.

Obviously we can't afford anything like it now.

do you think that Royal Navy has to be the largest in the world in order to stop Moscow empire aggression ?
