The United States economy lost more jobs than expected in December, tempering hopes for a swift and sustained recovery from the Great Recession.

The government reported on Friday that the economy lost another 85,000 jobs last month, but that the unemployment rate held steady at 10 percent.

And in a surprise that highlighted the erratic nature of economic renewal, the Labor Department reported that 4,000 jobs were actually created in November — rather than a loss of 11,000 the government originally projected — the first gain in nearly two years. Another 16,000 job losses were added to October’s tally.

Though jobs were lost in December, the jobless rate did not rise, an indication that more unemployed workers had given up their search for work.

Yet another example of hopeful change changing hopefully, while the people begin to think, "maybe we can't."

Employers are girding their loins for the coming of the economic ****-hitting-the-fan due to massive national debt.

The Presidents power extends only to a certain degree, for ethical reasons of course, so we cannot expect that one should go knocking on -insert formerly large employer, still making billions in profits but unwilling to hire- here and demand jobs.

That would be anti-Capitalist; the ethics behind employment is currently pushed out of the way for larger profits.

We've already had meetings to this effect at my company. Contingencies are in place, and jobs to eliminate have been identified. If this goes through, we've got to offset the impact, hopefully with the pain coming from within and not the service to our clients.

Congrats, Dems.

I'm sure Obama wants to take away our employees and put them in some bureaucratic government position so they'll be at the state's teet forever more.
