The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said on Thursday it would stop tracking the cost of the country’s most expensive disasters, those which cause at least $1 billion in damage.

The move would leave insurance companies, researchers and government policymakers without information to help understand the patterns of major disasters like hurricanes, drought or wildfires, and their economic consequences, starting this year. Those events are becoming more frequent or severe as the planet grows hotter, although not all disasters are linked to climate change.

This administration and the GOP continue to be dog shit subhumans making everything harder for everyone else.

So, perhaps tell me how all this "tracking" has helped California with the wild fires they have yearly?

If you don't test for covid you get less cases. Same principle. Magidiots to the end.

Keeping the public ignorant is one of the Trump regime’s top priorities.

I’m fine with this. My state can afford to track such things ourselves so I don’t think we should be funding this kind of work in places like Mississippi and Oklahoma. Let them deal with this stuff on their own.

Do you not realize that when governments decide how much money they need to spend on disaster mitigation they need to know how much the disasters are costing them? This applies to all disasters, not just the ones that impact the hated liberals.

Another stupid move.

Those who can't pick up on why this is bad and what's really going on don't deserve an explanation. Let them wonder.

Why should the government be responsible for feeding data to insurance companies only to be used to jack our rates?

Like eliminating other monitoring systems to Traitor Trump. If the information isn’t available, the event didn’t occur.

Apparently, you ignored the parts that explain why Traitor Trump’s dumbass order is a dumbass order.

The insurance companies have yearly data on claims which provide a more accurate data point.
