Two law firms targeted by President Donald Trump sued Friday to bar enforcement of his executive orders seeking to shut them out of government business and strip key lawyers of their security clearances.

In separate suits, Big Law firms Jenner & Block and WilmerHale say Trump’s effort to target them amounts to an unprecedented attack on the legal profession in retaliation for their work for past clients he doesn’t like and for past causes with which he disagrees. If carried out, they say, the orders would devastate their practices and have already begun to cause anxiety among their hundreds clients with government business.

I believe this makes three now who are standing up to Trump. One has already gotten a TRO. Trump has no right whatsoever to go after these firms. We see what he's doing. He's trying to eliminate the best and most qualified lawyers who can go after him. Elon is partially behind this.

Isn’t this restraint of free trade?

IMO these orders are far worse than the Signal scandal that is dominating the news. The Signal thing was a mistake; these orders are a deliberate violation of the US constitution in multiple respects: they infringe the freedom of speech, the freedom of association, the contract clause, the ex post facto clause, the due process clause, and the constitutional right to counsel. And they are generally an assault on the rule of law and a corrupt attempt to punish the legal organizations that attempted to hold him accountable for his previous constitutional violations, criminal violations, and attempt to overturn democracy.

The GOP congresspeople who are not speaking out about these orders are violating their constitutional duties, and the conservative posters on this board who have not condemned them are displaying their rank partisanship and disregard for basic American values.

This and Signalgate are both bad. They're part of this contemptible administration that has no respect for America or most Americans.

Some law firms are chickening out.

Some law firms are chickening out.

Yea. They're the second firm to capitulate. I believe it will do them more harm than good. The American people are hungry for those who stand up to Trump.

They may have billions and a great reputation, but public perception is everything. And right now, they look like p*****'s.

If this is blatant government weaponization then nothing is.

The Mob boss.

And the cult swoons and worships it all.

The point is to intimidate all intellectuals, educators, scientists, philosophers and all free thinkers into submission. This scenario has played out throughout the world repeatedly since the days of ancient Rome. People who know history know this.

And some of the historians who are speaking out about this are leaving America for a safe space. They know just how dangerous it is to speak out against a Fascist dictator.

Missed the typo, timed out and can’t edit, should have been if this isn’t blatant government weaponization then nothing is.
