Two early William Shatner shows

I enjoyed the original Star Trek series but many did not.
It was almost cancelled multiple times in it's first few years.
It did not get popular until it went into syndication.
While Shatner was the main character his acting skills were so-so at best.
But he did make a career off of James T,. Kirk.
I also remember Shatner on two different Twilight Zone episodes prior to Star Trek.

Shatner was in many shows before Star Trek. Perhaps hundreds of episodes. He played a prosecutor, a defender, a doctor... there was an interesting show about a young Puerto Rican man accused of murder about the legalities and uncertainties and police brutality.

Actually, it was because people did enjoy ST that the show wad saved. Fans letter campaigns to producers saved the show for its 2nd & 3rd seasons. Unfortunately, Trek was relegated to the Friday night death slot for its 3rd season and that ultimately killed the show.
Shatner was in the TZ episodes "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" (A real classic episode) and "Nick of Time." Leonard Nimoy & James Doohan also appeared in TZ episodes.

256 acting credits and only 16 were something to do with Star Trek.

IMDB
In addition to Shatner on the original TZ, other Trek stars from the TNG era Trek shows, TNG, DS9 & VOY, also appeared in TZ reboots.

He was not a good actor.
But I loved Star Trek and him on the Twilight Zone.. That was a classic episode..
Paul Wesley makes a good Kirk on SNW imo. We see a young pre-Capt Kirk growing into the Captain he will become.

Leonard Nimoy and Deforest Kelly played in episodes of the western tv show "The Virginian" as well.
