Two banks exposed to '$50bn con'

Santander was supposedly clean from investment into the US sub-prime mess but this shows they made almost equally stupid decisions elsewhere.

Unluckily I have a mortgage with Alliance & Leicester - a bank bought by Santander about a year before the sub-prime disaster.

Dont worry, Santander is one of the biggest and most "healthy" banks in the world.
