Nearly 20 years after airline passengers were first required to remove their shoes for security, the policy is being phased out.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is planning to allow passengers to keep their shoes on when they go through the general security line at many major airports across the country, two sources told ABC News.

An unexpected memo went out to TSA officers across the country last week stating the new policy will allow all passengers to keep their shoes on in all screening lanes at many airports across the country, starting Sunday.

Welp, I think this just shows Trump is going to run and win in 2028.

I mean seriously the man has ended one of the most stupid and insufferable policies ever created.

Keep hitting some more singles like this President Trump and MAGA in general. This touches people in their daily lives and stops the government from doubling down on stupid and doing things more correctly.

Good job!

Lol, that pesky Constitution might have something to say about that.

This polciy will make many people happy.

Some people will be upset by this.

I think it's sensible. When I was still traveling globally a lot, say about ten years ago, some countries were already doing away with the shoes business. It made it kind of hard to figure out what to do while waiting in the security line - shoes off or no? Take them off and risk going through the hassle unnecessarily, or leave them on and risk getting stopped and having to whip them off double quick?

But if Trump runs for the Presidency in 2028, we will be having other, serious problems.

Yeah, so much winning!

I went through TSA Security Screening this morning and kept my shoes on. No point in getting PreCheck any longer.

Finally. It was politically incorrect to make only some people take off their shoes, so everyone ended up having to take off their shoes. Looking forward for AI to dictate our screening process.

A broken clock is right twice a day. This is a good decision.

I'm not cancelling my TSA pre-check, but this is welcome news.

The TSA reaction was a bit much, and the shoe thing was a bit ridiculous particularly with all the other scanning methods we now have. I doubt we were any "safer" taking shoes off.

Who cares about shoes? Just leave my freaking chopsticks alone.

The TSA is a bloated dog & pony show that routinely records failure rates north of 70% whenever DHS tests their "security" by easily getting simulated weapons, drugs & explosives aboard undetected. The most critical vulnerability exposed by 9/11 has been solved: locked cockpit doors are now impossible to breach. The rest of it is smoke and mirrors. It's long past time to abolish the TSA and let the private sector take a crack at it.

Lines are usually shorter

Today’s PSA.

Trump cannot run in 2028.

End PSA

Come on, you have to admit that if Trump keeps fixing things like this you'd vote for him in 2028.

I wouldn’t vote Trump for local dog catcher.

Great work!! Republicans fixed another problem they created in fewer than 20 years! What heroes!

Hey we should throw them a military parade like we see out of shithole dictatorships!

We got the shoe checks with the Bush administration right?

Started in 2006.

I feel like I’ve gone through the airport without taking my shoes off a few times since then though?
I can barely remember when I didn’t. 😥
I hate those body scanners too. The radiation those can crank out if they get out of tolerance can be nuts.
