You do realize that US Navy assets have supported SOUTHCOM for years, right? The USS Cole has already returned from the 5th Fleet AOR. They are now starting to get trained up for their next deployment. Deploying to the Gulf of America and Caribbean allows them to use the ships systems to help interdict smugglers and train without Houthis tossing missiles at them.

You seem to know even less that your compatriots. The SPY-1D is an excellent system to track low slow fliers and small boats. Plus two MH-60R helicopter with radar and infrared.

Yeah, and according to the US military Braxton Bragg was worthy of having a fort named after him. Declaring something doesn’t make it so

And since the president keeps threatening to attack Mexico, the premise that they are there to practice without getting shot at doesn’t seem to hold up either.

If we were planning on “attacking” Mexico, why did the ships previously on station return to home port?

And how do you attack a country with one DDG? Please be specific.

We have been embarking USCG LEDETs on USN ships for decades both in the SOUTHCOM AOR and the CENTCOM AOR.
 
It’s not “the Gulf of America” and never will be.

And no amount of whining can ever change that.

America’s been waging wars of aggression against countries in Latin America for well over a century.

You desperately tried to ignore the fact that the president keeps talking about how America is going to attack Mexico, yes, all while moving ships around in the Gulf of Mexico.

America would undoubtedly lose that war, of course.
