First, he offers this veiled threat:
The Democrats should have never done it, the Supreme Court should have never approved it, and it’s going to lead to horrible things for so many people," Trump said in the statement. "The great USA divide will now grow far worse. The radical, left Democrats have weaponized everything, but remember, that is a dangerous two-way street!"

How exactly, Mr. Trump is the release of your returns going to lead to horrible things for so many people? And why?
Then this:

"The 'Trump' tax returns once again show how proudly successful I have been and how I have been able to use depreciation and various other tax deductions as an incentive for creating thousands of jobs and magnificent structures and enterprises,"

Yes, nothing shows "proud success" like claiming massive losses to the point where you pay little or no income taxes. And I'm no tax expert, but can't quite wrap my head around how Trump claiming massive write offs and deductions created thousands of jobs. Can one of you Trumpers help me out?

I, a Trumper in good standing, can.

Take Elon as an example. He is rich beyond imagination. Then, within a few weeks, Elon lost more than can be imagined, so now Elon will never have to pay taxes again.

Brilliant!

MAGA.

I think the biggest concern for him was his taxes shattering the myth of him being some mega successful business person. Anyone remotely following his business career would know he's always struggled with business failure, but this makes it more widely known.

I was a bit concerned about R's claiming the moral high ground here, but I 'm okay now that I learned elected R's did the same thing when investigating supposed conservative bias in tax audits.

Still looking for someone who can cite a legal justification for releasing these returns.
Apparently, if Breitbart is to be believed, the Supreme Court allowed this to happen without dissent:

I suspect our five MAGA justices were either caught napping or misled about the issue at hand.

MAGA.

I believe that is an absolute certainty.

But let's assume Trump does have a net worth in the low billions, he built that worth via real estate, which he seems to perpetually borrow against to maintain his garish existence. As long as the properties in total stay ahead of his debt (which has not always been the case), all is good. But Trump does not want to expose to his adoring cult how he manages to duck and dive claiming any real income so that he can avoid paying taxes. That's what he did not want revealed and he doesn't want to explain it to his public.

I doubt that response will satisfy Nat as he was looking for a "legal justification" and this court's prior opinions do not suggest they are strong on the legal justification angle.

Topic is Trump. You bring in Elon but don't even make a point. What are you talking about?

Oh... while that could be true, I'd feel more comfortable if it can from Nat himself.

Thank you nonetheless.

MAGA.

then you, as a republican claiming to be a libertarian, haven't read the gazillion explanations of why it's legal.

You are right. And my response was not going to get me a MAGA anyway so I don't know why I bothered. :)

Actually, I, a Trumper, probably and proudly the Trumpiest Trumper on this board, was asked in the OP to explain how Trump can be so fabulously wealthy and not pay any tax, so I used Elon as an example of how that can happen.

MAGA.

If this whole thread is about obtaining a MAGA, just ask nicely and one will be awarded.

MAGA.

Because of the horrible precedent being set by the Democrats, Republicans will release all of the Biden family's tax returns, the Pelosi's, Soros', Zuckerbergs ....

Really? You don't want to find fifty different ways to ask people why it's wrong to release them? You want straight debate on this one? Huh...

Ah well, you just keep waiting. They'll get Durham on the case and he'll send all the poopyhead libruls to jail.

If true, it is evidence of Trump's undeniable genius. Trump got the lib-progs, i.e. Democrats, to own themselves.

Without even having to ask, you are awarded a semi-coveted MAGA for championing Trump's genius:

MAGA

I'm down for all public office holders releasing their tax returns. There's no reason for private citizens to release their returns though.

Trump is a private citizen. Democrats are releasing his returns.

...which were demanded while he was President. He wasn't able to run out the clock. Too bad so sad.

Why aren't you more concerned that he had conflicts of interest while he was President?

Yep. They went after Lois Lerner.
