Typically sex is observed from anatomy. I don't think we've ever done it any other way for any other species unless the anatomy is ambiguous.I don't disagree with his saying there are only two sexes, or banning trans women from women's sports. Again, not putting trans women in women's prisons, etc., is just about all one can do, given that there have been rape pregnancies caused in some cases.
But I think the problems are two-fold. First, when babies are born, no one checks their DNA - their sexes are decided by visual inspection of morphology, and this can actually lead to rare cases where a baby is declared female but doesn't have an XX chromosome and later has problems. Second, he says they are male or female from conception, as if DNA IS the way babies' sexes are decided on birth certificates.
I don't think that sex should be left up to professionals because it's not that complicated or nuanced.I don't care that he wants two sexes, but he really ought to do it in a less dilletante way.
And second, this is all about serious psychiatric/psychological problems, and I can't stand an unintelligent person, who could never have become a psychiatrist or psychologist, making decisions that should be left to professionals.
For example if I want more cattle and I have a male and a female bovine I'm capable of knowing which to go together to make more cattle that's not complicated it doesn't take a professional.
I didn't have to ask a doctor if I was gay or not I knew I was at 12 years old because the sexes are dimorphic.
