How Trump is going to defend himself? White House is in "lock down" mode, zero chance people/info is coming from white house to tell their version. So it's just up to GOP now?

I like to see Trump defending his case, but seems like it's not happening or is there possible situation when Trump can't say NO anymore?

This impeachment is also good time for Trump to show how "smart" he is, just prove all accusations wrong - that's it. When Trump is done with impeachment (if it fails), Trump is getting huge boost for re-election and next 4 years is again same circus. All you need to do is install revolving doors to White House as Trump need to clean up house few times over and replace those for Yes -men/woman. If you're not licking Trump's backside you're un-american in Trump's world.

Sadly, the dems have failed and handed him all the power - defense strategy? Why bother? Senate will never remove from office, but now he can take control of the story and pull three primary candidates off the trail

All he has to do is run out the clock

Even if he tries to defend, someone is going to cry foul, and then sling more mud. I'm honestly surprised he's been as quiet about this whole things as he's been.

Then again, they still don't have much in the way of proving something impeachable actually happened. Especially with how Schiff has been handling this, and how poor the questions coming from Quigley were.

Lets see.. Schiff lost his cool.. Pelosi lost her cool.. Biden lost his cool.. who else has joined this train of disparity?

Honestly, I agree with your statement that I'm surprised Trump has been quiet about this - I feel like he knew from the beginning that they picked a losing battle and has just been letting it continue to favor him

Can't say I honestly see that as a win in general, but he's definitely holding the cards right now

By my calculations, the impeachment process started four months before he was elected. Informally, of course. I may be off by a few weeks.
So to answer the question we should consider what his strategy was at that point, and if there has been any change.

At that time, his strategy was to ignore.
I have seen no changes.

Well, they're doing more than just poorly trying to impeach a sitting president. They're beating one another down, and slowly showing the rest of the voter base that they are more interested in doing this, than handling actual issues. We know that the house and congress have actually gotten some bills passed. But not nearly as much as could've been handled if they weren't wasting all this time with trying to impeach him. Hell, they haven't even established if anything illegal was actually done. Just that he did a quid pro quo with the Ukraine, and even then if that turned out to be true. It still wouldn't even been illegal.

They're going about this the wrong way. Pelosi should've fought it all the way, tooth and nail. Then told them to get ****ed if they tried to pressure her into jumping onboard.

The voters who elected these democrats to do a job, are showing up to these town halls/meetings/rallies and voicing their displeasure with how the system has been running. So even if they continue with pushing this impeachment game, they're not only going to suffer in the polls. But they'll have to pull several candidates off the trail, just so they can sit at hearing after hearing, basically perched on their own hands.

The only way the democrats are going to really pull out an actual win here, is if they rig something, and even then. There is going to be that chance that they get found out, like with how they did Bernie.

President of the United States of America Donald Trump has already done all that he needs to do. His defense? He essentially owns the votes of the Republican federal congressmen. They know that opposing him will result in a high risk of being voted out of office even in a carefully gerrymandered 'safe' district or, in the case of senators, a 'red' state. The vote in the Senate, regardless of the evidence presented, is assured. We have no common phrase for the reverse of a kangaroo court, though. Perhaps some enterprising wordsmith will coin one.

The final result will be a broadening of presidential power and a narrowing of the definition of impeachable offenses. It will also result in greater [Ed.: Some might say almost complete,] loss of freedom for federal legislators to drift from the dicta of their party.

And so it goes.

It is up to the accuser to establish guilt. The accused is not required to establish innocence.

So far, the House Dems have failed to establish any kind of guilt.

What more does Trump need to do?

Trump's defense strategy - if there is any?

His "strategy" is to do nothing. Wait for the Senate to acquit him. Which proves his presidency is above the law. And over the next 5 years install himself as permanent presidential dictator.

So evidence gathered by Democrats is not evidence at all for Republicans? Different standards what is counted as evidence? Testimonies have no value at all? It's funny as so many Dems are so sure how Trump is guilty (and many of his staff too).

Well, it's interesting anyway to follow what's happening around this mess.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 18, 1788, George Mason rose from his chair on the floor of the Virginia Ratifying Convention deeply troubled by what he thought of the convention’s failure to understand—the president of the United States might not always be someone of sound character and high intelligence. There would rarely, if ever, he reminded the delegates, be a commander in chief with the courage and rectitude displayed by George Washington during the War of Independence. There might even be a president who would try to change our form of government. The president, argued Mason,

“ought not to have the power of pardoning, because he may frequently pardon crimes which were advised by himself. It may happen, at some future day, that he will establish a monarchy, and destroy the republic. If he has the power of granting pardons before indictment, or conviction, may he not stop inquiry and prevent detection? The case of treason ought, at least, to be excepted. This is a weighty objection with me.”

He has no offense which requires a defense.

It’s up to the prosecution to prove their case. They haven’t. No defense is necessary.

So basically everything is fine then and Trump can "relax" - just stay out of it and focus on real issues.

If this is going to blow on Dems faces and Trump is getting his another win... well, that's undeniable proof of gigantic stupidity of Dems. Going thru all way down for nothing, that something special, lol..

I'm not actually convinced yet about Trumps innocence. Interesting times, indeed.

Go back and read what I said: "...have failed to establish any kind of guilt."

Tossing around a bunch of "testimony" doesn't mean any guilt has been established...even if you do find such antics to be interesting.

"Just prove all accusations wrong..."

The totalitarian fascists, otherwise known as Liberals/Progressives are no longer hiding their aversion to the Constitution. Their boiler room operations are promoting this view.

Guilty until proven innocent is the new standard they are hellbent on adopting and lording over the citizens of the United States.

Keep that in mind when casting a vote next November.

Liberals are fascist?

Damn that Trump!

Yes. Thankful the President is forcing this fact out of the closet.

With the posts of these boiler room types who only surface during elections, it's become easy to confirm.

What I'm trying to say is that if there's false claims about guilty, defense is there to show how - in that case - Dems are failing, right?

Trump has proven he is a liberal fascist? Thank you for creating a political philosophy which doesn't exist.

When the WH defies subpoenas for documents and witnesses you have to think they have something to hide. So, if nothing else although I don’t believe that, Trump is obstructing justice which is a reason to impeach alone.
