There probably isn't anything more un-American for a president to do, in violation of the governing principles of the US, than a president to seize authoritarian power to occupy US cities with forced. It's never been an issue as no president has tried, and the Posse Comitatus Act was passed to prevent it..

- L.A. deployment: A federal judge in California said President Trump broke the law by deploying roughly 5,000 Marines and National Guard troops to Los Angeles in June in response to immigration protests. The judge said on Tuesday that Mr. Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the Defense Department had violated the Posse Comitatus Act, which generally prohibits using the military to enforce domestic law. - Policing crackdown: The ruling bars Mr. Trump and the Defense Department from using the troops for any law-enforcement purpose in California. But the judge noted that Mr. Trump and Mr. Hegseth have “have stated their intention” to use Guard troops as a “national police force with the president as its chief.” Gov. Gavin Newsom of California praised the decision, saying Mr. Trump’s efforts were “illegal, authoritarian, and must be stopped in every courtroom across this country.”
