"Masked agents. Terrified suspects. Emotions running high as screaming crowds press in, cell phone cameras in hand. Amid surging immigration enforcement across the country, federal agents are being hurt and hospitalized as they make increasingly public – and risky – arrests of people they believe are undocumented. White House officials say there's been a 500% increase in assaults on agents, as President Donald Trump's massive deportation campaign ramps up. Administration officials say bold tactics are needed to repel what they call an "invasion" of immigrants. But policing experts say the aggressive approach is provoking unnecessarily dangerous encounters.

Policing experts say ICE agents are exacerbating tense situations with practices that many American police departments have largely disavowed. ..."The aggressive police tactics being employed by the federal government are causing the issue," said longtime police supervisor Diane Goldstein, who now directs the Law Enforcement Action Partnership, which has spent decades working to develop trust between the public and police. "Their direction and their leadership is directly putting them in a horrific situation," she said.

The ICE tactics on display are a dramatic departure from how cautiously ICE agents previously worked, said Jason Houser, a former Department of Homeland Security counterterrorism official. Houser is an Afghanistan combat veteran who was ICE chief of staff during the Biden administration. Previously, ICE agents prioritized serious criminal offenders for arrest, Houser said. A team of agents might work for days or weeks to surveil a single subject before making an arrest carefully timed to minimize risks to the public and to agents themselves.

ICE agents are trained to "think about prioritization of public safety, risk and removability," he added"

This is what Trump wants. He would love to see thecviolence escalated so he could declare a national emergency, sic more military in the American people and limit rights.

Such actions should fall under prosecution as a Federal felony, in a Federal court.

Stark contrast to previous procedures, when they made sure subjects were hardened criminals. Wasn't that what the felon was braying about not to long ago.
Now it's
arrests of people they believe are undocumented.

Jackboots are getting hurt?

What a pity.

I think I have a f*ck around here somewhere to give. Let me look for it…first I’ve got this list of other things to attend to though.

Like watching the grass grow.

The Joint Chiefs at the Pentagon are stalling Trump about using the National Guard to make large scale law enforcement "roundups" of immigrants. The new chairman of the Joint Chiefs AF Gen. Dan "Razn" Caine is leading the armed forces resistance to putting the NG to do Trumph's immigration law enforcement "roundup."

The DHS request of May 9th to the Pentagon to provide 20,000 National Guard to do immigration law enforcement roundups is still being held by the Joint Chiefs who definitely and strongly oppose it. Air Force Gen. Steven S. Nordhaus is the Chief of the National Guard Bureau on the Joint Chiefs and he's totally against it too and of course. Gen. Nordhaus with the JCS has been sitting on this radical civil-military request by DHS since May 9th.

SecDef Hegseth The Horrible knows he needs the order from the C'nC to put the NG to immigration law enforcement but that Trump is loathe to issue such an order, so Hegseth has quit trying to move the JCS who are firm about this. All this and more about it is occurring under the public radar in DC. ICE agent goons and their sudden masked violence in the streets are just going to have to continue to feel the wrath of their targeted victims and happenstance onlookers. ICE agents suffering physical resistance against their violent goon arrests is just another unforeseen by Trump and His Chief Goon Homan.

ICE can handle the little ruckus boys. Service with a smile.

ICE is the terrorist organization.

The 4-star Gen. Nordhaus who came up through the AFNG to include periods of active duty, together with the JCS and Gen. Caine, assert the 20K NG request from DHS to enforce immigration law is insufficient to commit NG troops to do. That instead the Potus/C'nC has to issue a direct order to the Pentagon which the JCS know Trumph is loathe to do -- because the Generalissimo knows he'd catch holy hell for it. And that the NG supported by the JCS and Gen. Caine may well refuse to do it if Trumph did issue a direct order -- while not activating the Insurrection Act which Trumph is also loathe to do for the same reason of catching holy hell. So the standoff continues by the JCS led by the chairman Gen. Dan "Razn" Caine who is known throughout his 30+ year career in the AF as "a straight shooter."

Agreed with that last sentence. I don't want ICE assaulted, not because I care about those thugs--far from it--but because I don't want that to be a green light for tRump to further oppress human rights in the US.

Can't accept responsibility for your vote?
Mine got no one elected.
I don't agree with how Trump is handling illegal immigrants, but it seems to be better than doing nothing.

Come on dude. You're not fooling anyone here.
Neither do I support the Democrat party.
I work only with issues, and how I think they should be resolved.
In another thread I was accused of being a flaming liberal. So believe what you want.
